I'd also suggest after the school exam time because, much as I love you all, I won't be distracted from them.
Dude, I've lived in London all 17 years of my life and not once have I come even close to getting stabbed. Its pathetic how people think London is a bad area because of a few minor incidents. Its areas like Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow you want to avoid. In Glasgow your 7 times more likely to get stabbed than ANYWHERE else in the UK.Spyalt said:Yeah and we could hand out the stab proof vests at the train station.Anachronism said:London. You can get trains to London from pretty much anywhere in the UK.
Yeah, it's sad times when I can't get home without being accosted by some young rapscallion, whose about 12 years old. Grrrr, they make me so mad!Chris B Chikin said:That said, there still seems something inherently wrong with the whole notion (I live in Edinburgh but have friends in Bearsden).

Lol people really are scared of London. I've been living in central London or Bexley my whole life and I've never so much as had a funny look from a knife-wielding 'youth'. Remember Bexley contains Bexleyheath, which is the chav-capitol of Britain.bernthalbob616 said:At night, yes, when all the crack adicts and cider-swilling chavs come out, we'll be fine.Anachronism said:Yes, because a large group of people would be likely to be attacked in broad daylight, with lots of witnesses around, wouldn't they?Spyalt said:Yeah and we could hand out the stab proof vests at the train station.Anachronism said:London. Unless we decide, for some demented reason, to do Escapism at night, I think we should be ok.
I will help with the organising, but I won't be able to do it all on my ownGeek@Heart said:Ok then, where would be easiest of all of us to meet?
Edit: And does anyone want to take responsibility for organising it?
Edit 2: Okay, is there anyone who would want to go and who can't get to London?

It's not that I'm scared of em, I just can't be asked to deal with their stupidity.Overlord_Dave said:Lol people really are scared of London. Pretty much i live in Maidstone and i thought thats a shithole until i went to Chatham lolbernthalbob616 said:Chatham is the chav capitol of England, along with the rest of Medway.
I dunno, there is that river that runs under the sainsburys that looks like a sewer, that kind of redeems the town.Ollie596 said:Pretty much i live in Maidstone and i thought thats a shithole until i went to Chatham lolbernthalbob616 said:Chatham is the chav capitol of England, along with the rest of Medway.
Thats a fair point, cause in Glasgow it's fairly easy to get into clubs and pubs underage, however it might be different in London.Chris B Chikin said:It isn't that I'm scared of underagers coming along and cramping us oldies' style. The only thing is that if London's anything like Edinburgh when it comes to IDing people there'll be very few places where under-eighteens can get in (again, local knowledge required on that matter) which means that if you're not eighteen then its possible you might have a fairly rubbish night out having spent all the money getting there.TheLoveRat said:In the words of Adidas, "LET'S DO IT!"
Just make it after exam time which for Scotland ends the 8th of June, no idea when the rest of Britain ends, and also who cares if your underage, just come along anyway.
I'm happy to have under-eighteens there, I'm just not convinced they'd have a good time. But anyway, it depends really on what sort of venue we go for, so I guess it'll be something to decide once we know where the meet-up's happening.
Again, how did they do it in New York and Sydney?
Haha i live quite near thatjedstopher said:I dunno, there is that river that runs under the sainsburys that looks like a sewer, that kind of redeems the town.Ollie596 said:Pretty much i live in Maidstone and i thought thats a shithole until i went to Chatham lolbernthalbob616 said:Chatham is the chav capitol of England, along with the rest of Medway.
Just did a google search and there are quite a few paintballing around London, plus it gives me a reason to shout BOOM HEADSHOTChris B Chikin said:Been reading the other thread on this subject [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.108238#1819362] and realised it doesn't have to be a pub. We could go bowling or paintballing (or both) or something along those lines. That we we have something that the underagers can do, and then in the evening the over-eighteens can go and find a pub.
Are there any paintballing or laserquest/zap zone arenas in or around London?
hey that sounds pretty cool! yeah London would be the best place for that i reckon... please give me more info if it pops upSmilingKitsune said:Well there was an official escapist meet up over in New York, about a year ago, there have also been two unofficial meet ups in Sydney, Australia.Simalacrum said:i can get to London, but what IS this escapism UK thing??? want more info please (btw Londons a big place, whereabouts in London?)
So the idea is to have one for all the English (and Irish in my case) escapist members.
No plans yet as to what we'd do, we have to sort out the when and where first.
