So last time i made a thread asking about good f2p fps game and am enjoying Blacklight:Retribution but now its time to dip my toes in the world of f2p mmorpg's.I have never played an mmorpg before so i need one that is very newcomer friendly. In addition to that the download size must not exceed 10gb as i have very slow internet connection (512Kbps).
I did some research and have shortlisted Dragons Nest,Eden Eternal, Everquest 2,Aion,Runescape,Star Trek Online, Allods online, Wizard 101,etc.
Or if you have any other recommendations please do suggest only criteria being newcomer friendly, free 2 play and less than 10gb .I don't mind dated graphics or grinding.

Not on your list, but the only good payment model I've ever seen in a f2p mmo is Rift, and that an still be slightly limiting but you do get all areas and quest content for free. You'll never be locked out of anything quest wise, there are bag slot limits, and you can't sell on the auction house until you've ground enough money to buy the real money currency. Then 1 skill tree out of about 9 for each class. This sounds like a lot of content locked out but in the world of F2P MMOs it's actually very little.

I can't ever really get into f2p MMOs because I always seem to be fighting the payment model and just trying to unlock what I need, for MMOs I can only really recommend World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2, both of which aren't free.

The best thing to do with finding a f2p one you want, is look at what buying a subscription would get you, and see if you can live without having those things. For example rifts subscription gives you the ability to summon various shops anywhere and daily xp boosts, along with some real world currency to buy cosmetics, all of those I didn't really need so Rift was fine for me. Games like Aion where you're limited to how many times you can do dungeons or Lord of the Rings Online which locks out whole areas quests until you've ground enough currency to "buy that content" just really don't cut it for me.

Edit: Also saddened you picked Blacklight over the glorious TF2.

I'd recommend Lord of the Rings Online. The one thing I really like about Turbine's F2P model, that I have yet to see from others, is the ability to earn store currency by just playing the game. Each zone you have access to has an amount of Deeds, completing them gets you the currency. Earn enough and you can buy more content, character slots, etc. Thus, you can get just about everything from the game without ever having to spend a single dime. Granted, it's less work to just buy the currency with cash, but you're not required to do so.

LotRO is getting its latest expansion, Helm's Deep, next month. And, as far as what I've gathered from a few of the beta players, they're pretty much changing how every class plays when they're scrapping their existing Class Trait system for a Skill Tree system. Also, if you were so inclined to be spending money, I've been told that there's some good deals to be had with the existing expansions on sale now.

This is one that's very new but it kinda pushes right on your 10GB Limit (that's the actual size on my PC 10.0GB) is Dragon's Prophet.

It is somewhat frustrating that there seems to be no in-game way to earn the station cash you use for the cash store, but the game itself is very fun and simple to learn. Unlike older MMOs, it uses a combo-action system instead of tab-targetting. You don't need to memorize or map half your keyboard to play it decent. The missions are somewhat lackluster but very new player friendly and most dungeons have a soloable option where you can tackle it without a party (granted for less epic loot). Also, the icing in this cake is you tame, ride, and fight with dragons (ranging from giant landlocked behemoths, sleek raptor like ones, and your more traditional flying ones.) Which is available right from the get-go. The leveling isn't paced properly though, you'll hit level 20 in no time then grind to a screeching halt going much farther.

Secret World might work, if it doesn't exceed 10GB. Monthly subscription is optional, but otherwise it's one-time payment of... IIRC 40-50 dollars.

you can find a list of decent MMORPGs at www.mmopet.com. Most of them are fairly new MMORPGs so you wouldn't have to compete with really high level players
