Plots that make no sense

I noticed a while back playing red faction gurilla that even though you only just joined everyone already looks to you as the mars messia, more recently though I was thinking about mass effect 2 and (though it's one of my most played games) it has alot of nonsensical sub-plots, the main two for me being that A:in two years guns that require no ammo now need ammo
and B:the ship that your told is built to fight the enemie's still getts torn appart by them.

Now I have no problem with develepors changing things but did I miss the explination of these things?

They don't have ammo. They have heat sinks, which absorb the heat then get ejected every few shots. Then you insert another heat sink and start over. It was their way of implementing 'ammo' without violating canon.

A) It's not ammo, it's heat sinks to prevent the weapons from melting from the huge energy involved.
B) It gets blown apart? My Normandy took out a ship easily 20 times its size...

Which I actually think they pulled of really well. Also the weapons in the first one use ammo, the codex entry mentions that the gun cuts parts off of a block of metal as projectiles, it just was not omplemented as a gameplay mechanic.

OT: Every fighting game ever. And of course Resident Evil. At some point Umbrella Corps. just went beyond stupid as a plot element.

EDIT: I too thought this was gonna be about games with non-sense plots in general.

the ammo: I had a combo of upgrades (heat sink and snow-blind or something) that allow'd unlimited fire

the ship: without upgrades it is a floating target (well funded group my ass)

And add other nonsensical plots if you want I just gave mass effect as an example
