Hey escapists!
I was wondering, but are you a fan of the spoken word? Are you guys the fans of poetry and do you write it?
For instance I want to share with you this.

The sky is falling,
and your smile is calling.
For I have seen the end.
I've seen the apocalypse.
The apocalypse was when you left me there.
Alone,
dying,
For when I saw you go down in a box.
Then I thought to myself,
Please, I love you to much.

For now here I am, sitting on the edge.
Staring out to the valley
where the birds are hanging
And I can't imagine, my life without you.
My hymn, my rhyme my beautiful time.

Now, if you've written something your self then post!

I like that! :) I wrote a poem too, I don't think its all that good, but here we go...
Candle candle, burning bright
Letting out your soft white light
Burning the dark away
Adding white to the grey
Eating slowy at yourself
Dripping away on the shelf
As you live you slowly die
But after your death, none will cry.

As much as I love the English language and the way it can be used to create beautiful imagery and express feelings...

I still have a lot of trouble viewing poetry as being very legitimate.

I've been subjected to too many years of hippies and emo kids who were just trying way too hard. I can respect the idea behind it, as a form of literature with more structure than simple paragraph, but they're usually so overblown it can be difficult to take seriously.

Granted, take the instruments out of lyrically driven music and all it is is poetry...but I really do enjoy the instruments.

Oh yes I quite agree with you.
Because what I notice with "emo poetry" is that they don't really tell a story or even try.
They only say "I'm miserable blablabla, I hate my mum", because what happend to the real poets? One of the few I know of today is Sage Francis.

The sun is rising!
It's bright and yellow!
It shines upon my face,
and looks like a disgrace.
Glowing like a giant firefly.
It flutters in the day and steeps into the night.

Here's something to brighten the day!

I actually have a poetry assignment to hand in for english, funnily enough.

here's one I whipped up for part of this assignment

? I Wrote a Poem With Zombies In It!!11!?
I see things outside
weird things happening
I go for a ride
could this be the day of reckoning?

I go to my girlfriends house
to see if she's alright
I get there quickly
yeah, she's alright

We start talking about the situation
I hope to get laid for some reason
To my surprise
she breaks up with me

So I go back home
on the way
the apocalypse seems to be happening
Damnit.

I get home
I try to get my stuff together
deciding what to take
Machete or Axe?

I realise that now I need to use the toilet
so now i'm thinking those things are zombies
These things eating people outside
So, at this moment, I think

?Here I sit
all broken hearted
came to shit
and the world ended?

poetry? hmmmmmm should i embarrass myself with a rap verse?

hijack with rap verse time
show poetry cats how we rhyme
my brother just bought himself a brand new 180
now his bank account empty, spent it all on a dream
pedal down, engine roaring let the world know we fukin keen
we the local boys playing with our heavy metal toys

destiny against us but ima let the god within shine
some days are hard but sure enough I'll make em all mine
own every moment and rip the earth asunder
speakers up so loud next suburb thinks it's thunder
feels like I'm always from the outside looking in
cant tell the difference between virtue and sin.
