Picture this;
you're in a perfectly fine mood (but just maybe a bit busy or in a hurry), and someone attempts to initiate small talk (or something similar) and you politely but firmly decline, and then they say 'oh I didn't realise you're in a bad mood, never mind etc.'
The idea of apology is fine, my gripe lies with the accusation that I'm in a bad mood. For me this instantly puts me in a REALLY foul mood, and rather unfortunately gives the accuser a nice sense of superiority as you're evidently some socially inept dickhead who hates everybody.
Has this happened to any one else? Does anyone know what is effect is called, or is it just me?
for people who can't read:
I'm in normal mood/neither good nor bad
someone accuses me of being in a bad mood [usually projecting]
accusation puts me in bad mood
