Pointless badges

Okay, so I can't be the first person to bring this up, but what's with all the pointless badges lately? I don't mind earning them, like not being a dick for Notable Poster, but I'm a bit sketchy about getting a reminder every few episodes of Unskippable or Apocolypse Lane.

But some of them seem to be completely random. Spare Ammo? Okay, something zombie-apocolypse related? But I'm up to my third random Candy badge for halloween and after a while it's just clutter.

What does anyone else think?

Personally, i belive that they're all rather pointless.
I think unless theres a actual effect, like, maybe trade them to access the preminium for a few days - theres no point.

Just my opinion, though.

meh, as long as they don't bump the 4 i have set to display, i really couldn't care less. yeah, they may be pointless, but i think of them kinda like "gold stars" or "banana stickers". just a little bit of a reward that doesn't cost anyone anything, yet somehow has a pavlovian effect on most of us.

a. Waste your time while getting them.
b. Show that you have time to waste.
c. Show that you are active on something
d. Epeen magnifying glass.

I don't care for them much, I love the personality quiz and forums ons tho. If they annoy you so much, close your eyes and tell yourself they ain't real. Or you could just ignore their existence and watch them wither away.

The 4 i picked to show up with every post is kind of an extension of myself.
It is what i think fit my personality the most so for me they are not pointless

They're there simply to be an incentive for us to post more and bring in more returning traffic, in the same way many forums install a "reputation" system.

I like showing the personality quiz ones, so everyone can see how utterly wrong they are, like the fighter badge, I'm a fucking coward! Good job quiz makers!

I see them for aesthetic purposes. That's about it, some users like to put a story behind theirs and have it reflect their personality, but it's all up to you.
