Pointless breakups

I find that many breakups I've witnessed are completely pointless, or stupid.

For example, I was dumped last night by my girlfriend of almost a year. Why? Because she's going to a different high school and we'll never see each other, even though we live in the same small town! (Population: about 1500, I'm not sure). Oh and because since she's always so busy, and whenever she's free, I'm off with my family (yes, it's such a bad thing for a teenager to hang out with his family once and a while). When I tell her I'm free for the next two weeks, she's got plans with her ex-boyfriend for every day (who she had just been with out of state for a week).

My question towards my example is: was she cheating and I just didn't see it? Or is she just an idiot?

And for discussion value (sorta), what's the dumbest/most pointless breakup you've experienced/witnessed?

I have to agree with this.

Most pointless breakups I've seen are the ones where two people break up and get back together multiple times in a short time span. It's the worst when I'm actually friends with one or both people in the "relationship," because other people end up having to deal with their bawwing, which would be acceptable in a normal breakup, but I don't see the point in consoling someone when I know they'll be back together in a week.

Yeah...sorry, mate, she wanted to dump you. Plain and simple. My most recent ex dumped me about a month back because she claimed to be "too stressed" to commit to a long-distance relationship over the summer. (We're at the same college, but my home is out-of-state.) Literally one week after she says this, she's dating a guy who's about the same distance away from her as I am.

Life lesson here: Girls aren't complicated, but they are vicious sometimes. It may be hard, but the fact of the matter is very plain... she just wasn't feeling it any more.

OT: Most break ups seem pointless, because one party does not wish to say what's really on his/her mind as they don't want to hurt the person's feelings even more.
