Pointless Fanbase Bickering

If you're a fan of anything you have probably run into a pointless argument that fans insist you must chose a side on.
I am a Nightwish fan but every time I bring them up I get the same reaction. "Oh, they were better before Anette became the singer" or others who say "Tarja was ruining the band from the inside, I'm glad she left"
I unfortunately, like both of them about equally and the fanbase doesn't seem to want to let me.

Are there any fanbases you know of that will bicker over something that seems ridiculous to you?
Bonus points if you come up with a way to make them both happy.

Um the Death Note and Code Geass fanbases bicker constantly

Death Note fans will bicker over who was in the right (i'm on L's side btw) L or Light and/or whether the Near arc ruined Death Note forever

Whereas the Code Geass fans bicker over SPOILER ALERT SKIP NAO!!!!!! whether Lelouch really dies.

I only thing i could say to calm the Code Geass debate is that the creators intentionaly left it open ended leaving the fans to decide the outcome (and argue constantly)

The Death Note arguement is too subjective to make everyone happy as some people will forever condemn L for using morally questionable methods whereas some will just say "he got shit done" Same with Light

Stargate fans had a pretty drastic schism when Atlantis was ended and Universe went on the air. And now its cancelled, so I guess nobody gets to be happy <--- Disgruntled Universe fan here

And then there's Star Wars vs. Star Trek and the endless debate over which would win in a fight. Yes, somehow franchises are capable of fighting. Next up: a knock-down, drag-out brawl between Marvel and DC!
