Pointless Topics

Inb4 this is a pointless topic.

Now that is out of the way, I have seen a quite a lot of pointless threads with really no discussion value. Many have just plain topics asking a simple question for people to get their post count up.

The Question

Why aren't people making more, awesome, thought provoking topics to catch peoples attention? Maybe discussing a topic that people may not know about. Just my 0.02 cents.

Well, nobody's stopping you. Anyone can make threads, and all that jazz.

Yes, I know, but you must get tired of seeing the same things in topics every single day.

What kinda thought provoking questions are you looking for? Not every thread has to be about the meaning of life. This site would get awful boring and dull if there was no humourous and lighthearted threads.

Because coming up with an awesome thoughtful topic for discussion would require awesome thinking.

Really, the problem may be that you're just taking cursory looks at the topics and not looking into the conversations yourself to see if there's anything you want to say.

Pretty much this. Though when you do make an awesome thread it's a really cool feeling.

You're right, I did. And so I made my own forum, and now we have different topics every day.

Basically the point I'm making is that if you want results, it's usually better to do things yourself. I doubt anyone's going to read this thread and suddenly go "Oh shit, maybe those last 14 'What's your favourite anime' threads I made really were pointless! I'm going to go and discuss Albert Camus right this second!".
If I were you, I'd just make more topics I consider intelligent and thought provoking. I don't, because I don't consider myself intelligent to do so, but if you think you're up to it, you might as well, because there ain't no other way anything's going to change.

Besides though, inane topics have their place. Sometimes, it's nice to have the easy option you don't have to think too hard about.

I guess you're right, it's not really a challenge to make a intelligent thread more as it is tedius to do because you never know, you might get 0 reply's.

If you want an achieve of pointless topics, go to Bungie.net. From what I've seen on here compared to there, I'd say this one is definately more to the point.
