I loved the first gen of Pokemon. not played any of the subsequent games but I could understand a second gen. after that I thought they were milking the franchise BUT I recently managed to get Emerald and, though it hasn't arrived yet, I'm really looking forward to giving it a go. Thing is, currently there are 649 of the bloody things and I just thought 'could there be a 6th gen?'. I really hope not. There are enough and we don't need any more BUT it would be good if they could do something different with the ones there already are. Not so much a remake of the ones there are but binding them all together into one huge adventure that's a bit more than just becoming the Pokemon Champ while foiling an evil groups plans.

what would you prefer? something different or a new 100-150 pokemon being put into Pokemon Sun and Moon (they've pretty much run out of colours) for the 3DS?

I think they need to change it up a bit. If you look at it every gen is mostly the same. Young kid meets professor, gets a pokemon, beats gym leaders, beat evil criminals' plan, and then beats the elite four. I think they really need to change it up.

I have two ideas
1. Your are a pokemon not the trainer. I think that one has a chance to go in a lot of directions.

2.Maybe more of RPG in sense of "choice" and time going by (characters getting older) maybe you want to open a gym, maybe you want to become a professor, or what about you being the new "bad" guy. Again lot of open options there.

The way I see it the next new Pokemon game should be- they put 150 random Pokemons (balance out so you won't get crappy Pokemons) per cartridge so it somewhat add surpises to the game just like when you encounter the new Pokemon.
Sure they could put the entire Pokemon into it but that will just put some people off.

Since I didn't buy gen 4 a couple of days ago I decided to buy white. I don't really know what to feel of it, it just seems like another pokemon game to me. However it does look nicer, the game is a lot smoother, more features are included and the music sounds better (I am liking the soundtrack quite a lot personally).

I really don't think they should make a 6th gen. It is definitely getting excessive. At least they are making quite a few spinoff games though, but I am starting to think they should just leave Pokémon alone for a while, maybe drop it alltogether.

I am pretty pleased though with how they spaced out the generations, while giving remakes for the previous games out when a new handheld is released. Each new generation is aimed at children who have the latest console. I have no idea if the main audience is people who played the last gens, but it's always marketed towards children, who have assumedly never played a pokemon game before.

All in all though, I do want something different. Maybe another spinoff series? Or just a different change of design for the series in general? Instead of a black & white 2.

We just got black and white so I'd give it time before making a 6th generation.

But i would like to see a HUGE region with every kind of Pokemon available, even starters.

And Genwunners need to shut up, all they do is harm the franchise. People who like the franchise are open to new pokemon. They can like generations, but attacking one generation is just flat out wrong.

The 'combined game' thing sounds close to the MMORPG idea that floats around forums on occasion. Dunno if that would be any good- most MMORPGs seem aimed at an older crowd who can stay up for raid nights and such and a lot of people dislike them on principle.

Regardless, I do agree the story could use some reworking even if the basic framework remains the same. I didn't get Black or White but was spoiled for the way the finale subverts your expectations of simply beating the Elite Four and the Champion.

How's this for a switch- the 'evil Team' of the new region actually WON years ago and created a system where they take away any Pokemon that shows strong combat potential in the region and prevent any other humans from using them. As several of the previous 'Teams' have pointed out, Pokemon can be used as an army more powerful than any on Earth in the proper hands, and they use that to control the region, often violently.

Naturally, most people quietly resent this system and keep their beloved pets hidden. Including the new Professor, who has secretly been preparing you to become the Trainer who will one day break the system by defeating the enemy elite's top-breed Pokemon. Too dark for an E-rated game where no one ever dies? Possibly.

anybody that's played Dragon Quest IX knows that if a Pokemon game were made with those graphics and the same style for battles encounters it would be epic! the camera is still top down but at an angle, monsters roam the world map and will: ignore, run away, or engage you based on a number of factors, this could work wonders for Pokemon as it would have them acting more like wild animals and less like tall grass ambushes. The battle system could also offer to learn a thing or 2 from DQ:IX, for one thing make battles and animations more dynamic and have 2 on 2, and 3 on 3 battles happen more often

another thing I think would be choosing different origins for your character, like being a kid from a small town, or being from the city, or hell being the son of the PKM Master wanting to step out of your father's shadow
