I know we have all heard the yells of "oh, the new pokemon gen looks stupid! they are changing up the formula too much!" and we ignore them, because there are still the ones that look awesome. But they are also kind of right. pokemon designs, as a whole, have decreased in quality over each generation. and I say this from the perspective of someone who has their favorite pokemon as blaziken. I have formulated an idea as to why the pokemon designs have decreased in quality over each generation: the graphics have gotten better. think about it, back in the 8 bit era, which the game boy was an 8 bit game player, games had to work very hard to be able to do anything, so the artists didnt design models for the characters, they created box art, pictures on the sides of the arcade machines, stuff like that. so, when pokemon silver was made for the game boy color, an 8 bit player as well, they knew what to do with the hardware, and it had better graphics, but at the cost of the designs, fast forward to ruby, sapphire, and emerald, and the graphics are excellent, so, the designs were more able to be expressed through the graphics, but they did suffer quality a bit, which is sad, because some of the most awesome designs are third gen, but there are many more in 1st and second. fourth gen, same thing. the only reason it isnt happening as much with 5th gen, is because it is on the same system. thank you for your time, I hope this was not too much of a downer
