For me Pokemon Silver is the best one.
Ive gone through that game so many times.
If only it would play on a DS :(
Stupid nintendo :'(

I agree the new ones aren't as good anymore. Theres so many stupid Pokemon.
The old ones I knew if they were good and what they did. The new ones look stupid too.
And I end up with a bazillion pokemon who are all useless.

Huh? He told me on the first page I could post them after I PM him. Unless he changed the rules...
I'm sure it doesn't matter... I just thought it was curious, seeing as I did Pokemon as well and want I post mine (I did Red/Blue though).

I think the problem with Pokemon games in the end was how much money people had to spend between them iin the end to get all the Pokemon.

Red, Blue and Yellow - 150 Pokemon traded between themeselves. (Three games for the entire collection but only two required to Catch them all)

Silver, Gold and Crystal- Between them selfves and R, B and Y. (Six games and four required)

Saphirre, Ruby, Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green - All required trading between themselves and extensive playing to get the Johto Pokemon (Five games and four required)

Diamond, Pearl and Platinum - Need the GBA versions to gain all Pokemon (Eight games and six games required)

This is my biggest problem with the new Pokemon games it was okay up until Silver, Gold and Crystal but it was too much bother to get the entire collection after that. So when I play Pokemon these days its just to beat that generation's set of Gym Leaders and League.

I still enjoyed Silver and Gold versions. For me S/G versions of Pokemon are the best. :p

The 250 pokemons are diverse and have somewhat good designs and dont feel much repetitive. From there it went downlhill.
agreed. the game was certainly more vibrant than R/B, and didn't feel worn out yet. when i re-play pokemon, i go straight for my gold version.

as for the tv series, i can safely say the first was the best.

I agree, I've went through the game a lot on my game boy color and it doesn't bore even though it had an easy Elite 4 but it gave us Kanto which made up for it all by giving us even more gameplay which I enjoyed thoroughly. The new one gave us some new stuff but some of the new Pokemon were useless like luxray, it is weak as crap.

Fire Red and Leaf green would of been great (are great) ignoring the connectivity they built in. 150 was always daunting, 250 bordering on acceptable, and even higher was just a plain out insult slap upside the face.

Also, Mewtwo is awesome.

See I don't mind a high pokemon count, so long as we have a big world to explore!

I mean if a game has Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh, people won't complain about the amount because HEY, The game is large enough to accomidate.
My thoughts in a nutshell. The Silver/Gold generation was my favorite gameplay-wise due to the ability to visit previous regions.

One thing I didn't like about those games is: Only one save slot.

I really wished for more saves slot. Instead of deleting all my hard work, I could start a new one.

The multiplayer was the only true aspect of this game. My pokemons were all boosted. Left quite a suprise when my friend thought they could beat me.

Guess how many fire Pokemon are in pearl besides starters? Two, Ponita and Rapidash, how the fuck are you supposed to make a balanced team with that little of variety?

good read, i just wish i could still have fun with them nowadays.

As for you posting it before the scoring, the thing i remember was that we tried to keep in confidential, so that the judges wouldnt know the reviewers.

Not much of a review, more of a nostalgia rush...

That being said, i too prefered the original set to all the others
I agree with you there. The originals were just awesome, but Leaf Green/Fire Red didn't seem to live up to the charm of what they were recreating. I don't know why, your mileage might vary here.

I also somewhat agree here. G/S/C-not-so-much seemed like a beta test for beginning a game franchise, and it seemed a bit... different to me. Not that it was bad at all; the game had some of the best puzzles, the best villains and the most intriguing places and plots.

Even with an anticlimactic ending to the Team Rocket sub-plot (and a lot of confusion with me wondering where the hell the rival went after Mt. Moon), the game retained an awesome charm to it that made it a definite sequel, but different enough to bring me joy. I narrow this down to the interesting mythology of the Divine Birds, the oriental feel to the game, and the fact that G/S/C were actually sequels to the originals. Where the hell did Team Rocket go after that? More to the point, where the hell is Giovanni? They never resolve this in R/S/E/D/P/P, and that ticks me off. I don't care about Galactic, Aqua OR Magma, I want to ho-down with the classic villains!

However, I must say this. I loved everything after Ruby and Sapphire anyone. While I still think the series has gone downhill, it remains an enjoyable and fun game franchise. I just wish they resolved the story that the first 2 series began.

Bring back Team Rocket! Silver and Gold are the best, it had the advancement of graphics a long with a healthy dose of experience and confidence for both the gamer and the designer. With the added bonus of being able to go back to Kanto, I mean, hello? Beyond cool. And they actually seemed to try with the 2nd generation... don't get me wrong, the other generations do have their own little gems, e.g. Luxray and Lucario (': for the amount of sloppily designed pokemon that go along with it, it begs the question of whether or not we should care. Diamond and Pearl should not be dismissed as bad games, I don't think the Pokemon formula can ever grow old, but I just think that the designers are far to aware that they can create pink heart shaped Pokemon, which must take a 5 minute brainstorm before the end of the day to create and slap it in (yes I'm talking to you- LUVDISK) and people will still come running, their eyes gleaming with nostalgia.

Just start making an effort again, please?
