I think that those names fail.
I'm pretty sure you fail. What would've you come up with? I'm not gonna say I could do ir better, but they're Japanese for Christ sakes. It's not their fault.
Are you implying that the Japanese are naming-challenged? I don't think the failure of those names doesn't change through translation.
Heart & Soul: Ruby and Sapphire, Red & Blue, Diamond and Pearl...
I don't think the names really fail, I think they are just the only things they can come up with anymore that go together. They wouldn't make Heart & Lungs or something. That wouldn't make sense... to a kid, which is who the games are geared towards, Heart & Soul means something and is cool.

I'm glad they finally made it happen. Funny names though, I get it... they match each other, but... Heart/Soul? They must've run out of cool sounding metals/gems/colors.
How can you run out of cool sounding metals? Look at the periodic table, we have Mercury, Titanium, Magnesium, the list goes on.

(That was mostly sarcasm by the way)

Well, I think the Fire red and Leaf green did incredibly well, though.. Gold/Silver were only good 'til a point, the only reason I liked Gold/Silver in the first place was because of Flaffy and Miltank. :x
Wait, are you from New Zealand?*
I agree with you though, Fire Red and Leaf Green were fantastic, if only for the nostalgic value of the games they were remaking.

*DISCLAIMER: This is a joke. Being from Texas, I am subject to similar jokes.
And yes, I do know someone who has done horrible things to a cow.
No, it wasn't me.
Where they trying to make a Miltank, or looking at too much anime yiff porn?

I'd start with Gold and Cyndaquil... because of Ho-oh and Fire. But you do whatever seems best when the time comes.

Anyway, I think remaking Silver and Gold might not be such a great idea.. Because then the next logical step would be to remake Pokemon stadium for the Wii... Or even worse, Pokemon Snap. :/
You act like Pokemon stadium was bad.
Well, it wasn't exactly bad but I wouldn't rate it as particularly good either, it was good for the time being and quite cool with the mini games.
I hear ya, but I would play it, and I never play my Wii.

Just as I thought.
More Pokémon games spat out from the Twisting Nether of Pokémon.
In a decade, quote me if im wrong on this, but there soon will be 3 words.
Eg. Fire Burning Red, Grass Cutting Green...
Never ending...

That depends...

Totodile: Let me say off the bat he's improved the most since Second gen, he was a massive wreck back then. He had high Attack but because Water and Dark types were Special he couldn't fully abuse his potential, but thanks to 4th gen's pyhs/spec split things are different this time around. Make sure Totodile learns nothing BUT attacks that are pyhisical. It has crazy Attack and Defense but poor Speed, Sp. Atk, and Sp.Def. It evolves first at 18 and again at 30. Some great moves for it would have to be: EarthQuake, Crunch, Dragon Claw, Brick-Break, Waterfall, Screech, Super Power, Aqua Tail, and Fire/Ice/Thunder Punch* (*purchasable from Goldenrod Dept. Store). Totodile learns a crap-load of moves to accomodate the generation shift, it's by far one of the better starters for pure offensive strategy.
I'll change my mind and Second the Totodile.

...heart gold and...soul...silver...
I knew it, I knew they'd run out of ideas eventually with their gem naming phase. Not too bad I guess. I reckon I'll get them just cos the pokemon games are teh shizz.

Good choice, though to be more on a kid's level I'll settle for Pokemon Zinc and Pokemon Cobalt.

What about Pokemon Bronze? Now that should have been the third game in second gen, not Crystal. That would've been great
Amethyst would be fun. I've always wanted a Purple Pokemon game...

As crazy as those names are I'd love to see what the actual game is like, come on Nintendo: "Show ya moves!".
I think it would be safe to assume they'll be like Gold/Silver... but with minor updates: graphics, certain things you do, movesets, etc.

Just sayin'.

While they could've gone better then Heart Gold and Soul Silver, they kinda have to keep Gold and Silver in the name since these are remakes of those two. Wouldn't make sense to randomly go to Pokemon Ununnilium.

Ohh they're going for the thing they did with Red and Green? Ah in that case I'm definitely getting it, Gold and Silver kicked ass :D

Holy crap. A remake of the best 2 games in the series. I guess they wised up.
Damn straight.

However this is at least the third thread i've seen today on this, learn to search OP.
yes, agree again.
Silver was deff my fave of all Pokemon games ever made
the fact you played for 16 badges had to beat the elite 4 twice and vs Ash or "Red" as the final battle was just awesome
Also Cyndaquil and Totodile are the best starter Pokemon out of all the series, and Lugia is the best legendary pokemmon aswell (just ahead of Mewtwo and Rayquaza)
AND TYRANNITAR KICKED ASS
