Pokemon Morality: Is this cheating?

So, a few months ago I bought an Action Replay DS and, though I'd never been an advocate for using cheat devices, I decided: who the hell cares anyway? I justified my right to use it with the thought that I wouldn't use anything I altered online anyway.

However, recently, I realized that Action Replay gave me a lot more power than I thought I had. I had one of the Poketopia Pikachus (you know, the ones from Pokemon Battle Revolution that know Surf as a gimmick) and I evolved into a Raichu in a past generation. It was a member of my main party and I was training it to be the stronegst pokman EVAR!!!!!1

I digress, I was disappointed when I realized you couldn't transfer Pokemon with HMs to Black and White. I settled without my Surfing Raichu for a while before I eventually deleted Surf so I could transfer the Raichu over. I then realized, though, that it wasn't the Raichu I was in love with; it was the gimmick. So I used Action Replay to re-teach my Raichu Surf.

So here's the question: if I used that Raichu in battles online is that technically cheating? Sure I used AR to teach it a move it otherwise couldn't learn; however, it was a move that it did know and was the entire purpose of it being distributed. (Also, on an unrelated note, I made my Froslass shiny 'cause it was my favorite Pokemon. Seeing as how it doesn't affect stats I figure it wouldn't matter if I used it online.)

Finally, to keep this thread going, how far would YOU go to get what you want in a Pokemon game?

Short answer; yes with an 'if', long answer; no with a 'but.

In all seriousness, how you play the game is up to you. Personally, I think you're cheating because you're using AR, but if that's how you WANT to play the game, then there's no-one stopping you.

I think the only time someone SHOULD be stopped playing a game their way is if they're playing multiplayer and are glitching.

it is cheating? Yes! Why ?Because said raichu was not meant to be in black/white with surf , in d/p fine because any1 could get it legitly but you took it a step too far , unless someone has action replay they can't get the pikachu with surf in black and white . Usually in pokemon when i want something i work for it legitly , ive spent countless hours iv breeding and ev training to get exactly what i want for my pokemon , doing the whole thing legit . But the reason i stop playing online is because of cheater and ppl that d/c when they lose . thank god for pbr because thats the only way playong against random people is fun ( not that ppl dont cheat on PBR but its alot less frequent , plus you get to see your pokemon in 3D.

I'd say using the Froslass is fine, seeing as it doesn't mess with any of the mechanics nor do anything to the difficulty.

However, using the Raichu is certainly cheating.

I use the AR, though only to get pokemon I can't catch within my game so I don't have to buy four different copies to make my team complete.

Yes. Yes it is.

But you aren't about to enter some extreme tournament with it, nor would they allow you to, so it doesn't really matter.

If you use it online it's definitely cheating. No ifs or buts about it. You're using an Action Replay to make it use a move it can't normally use in the game and then using it against other players. That is indeed, very much cheating since it gives you an edge no one else has.

So general consensus, by landslide, is that Raichu shouldn't be in my main/online party. I can understand that, AR does give me an advantage over other people... at least, those who don't also use AR, :p.

It's a pretty good Pokemon without Surf though so it won't hinder me too much, I suppose.
