New question: which of the following can a Kyogre, Rayquaza, or Groudon get me through trades?
Manaphy, Jirachi, Phione, Mew, Deoxys, or Celebi?

I haven't played in a while, but if I wanted a turtwig I would gladly trade a mawile. Of course, I already have all the non-event pokemon (shameless bragging), so I don't need to worry about it.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but for use of the Global Trading System, you must have seen the pokemon that you wish to recieve or look up for trades. This will make it agonizing to find certain pokemon that you have no other way of obtaining.

1. People will always want starters, preferably just hatched ones. As long as you have that, you could more than likely ask for anything in the trade and get it. I would not suggest trading your turtwig for a mawile though.

2. People trading on the GTS will as a rule want low leveled pokemon, so they can train their EVs and IVs as they see fit. As for the trade suggestions, you could probably put any fairly rare or uncommon pokemon up and it has a chance to be traded for those.

3. People do use the trade system, but a kink in the system that was supposed to iron itself out has not. Which is to say people are asking for lvl 100 Raikous for a bidoof. You will have to solicit specific trading forums and swap friend codes to find a more useful trade.

Good, I'll just farm Turtwigs to trade for the pokemon I don't have. Thanks for responding.

Ok, new problem: I can't trade for a Mawile, because I haven't seen one. Is there a place in the game that I can fight one/get it in my pokedex? Or is there a part of the battle frontier that lets you keep pokedex information from the battles?

Catch a Mawile in Ruby and transfer it to your Platinum via that Park place. That should work, and if not... Tough luck.

But I don't have Ruby...
I've played with a Mawile in the borrow tournament, if I save the battle as a video, will it give me the information on the pokemon I used/fought?

Then you're probably screwed. The only other way I can think of for getting a Mawile besides trading and transfering... is cheating. There's plenty of cheatcode devices that you could use to catch a Mawile. My little brother has one, but I don't like them.

Ya, I was thinking of that, but if I'm going to buy a cheat device, I might as well just get Ruby. Do they still sell old Gameboy games at Gamestop?

Depends on the Gamestop, but most of them do. They'd be up by the front counter, under a glass display.

So there's absolutely no way to get a Mawile in my pokedex in Platinum without buying Ruby (or borrowing it)?
