soooo i think the pokemon games are pretty packed to say its a tiny cartridge.

why not try the game game type (walk around catch n battle) on a console??

i suppose it would be similar to final fantasy, full 3D, realistic cinematic, characters who actually speak not just a text wall.

i think it could really work. what bout you?

Yes i do believe that if they gave it a proper working on there would be the possability of a pkmn game of EPIC proportions.

Pkmn colloseum kinda tried it slightly... but really lacked... Im also peeved at the way all console pkmn games have actually TERRIBLY RENDERED pokemon... I mean, even if they kept it to the level of detail used on the characters in Smash bros. MELLEE (sooo last gen) i would be happy.

now say if they threw as much detail as the Metroid prime series even i would probably spend more time LOOKING at the game then playing it. imagine the worlds they could create~

But I fear there is something stopping them from doing this. I can almost wager that someday playstation are gonna make a tottaly awesome and totally blatent rip off of pokemon on a console... and then nintendo can only blame themselves.

I totally agree. On Ps1 there was Jade Cocoon which to me felt like a dark, gritty 3D pokemon. Although a real wii pokemon game would be deadly. Theres not a chance it would go on Ps3 or Xbox sadly.

Because there is nothing better than holding a hand-held device, staring at a tiny screen and kicking some gym leaders ass.

They could, but they don't have to. They can release practically the same game and it'll sell well, why even bother making an updated version? I'd like to see it done, but I'm not anxiously waiting for it to happen.

the difference though is that pokemon requires grinding. People grind better on handhelds because they can boot up the game have 1 or 3 battles, maybe progress to the next route, and then turn it off again.

They'd have to improve the gameplay A LOT to make a console game I'd buy.(XD and Colosseum, bleh)

A few reasons as I see it.
1. Pocket Monsters. Thats the original name. And they seem to like this. I'm not using this much, just putting it here.

2. Their main crowd is the portable crowd. A full console game thats not a port or a spin-off would alienate their main crowd by a decent margain.
2.1. Expect something inferior for said spin-off. Like XD, where you lose the main Pokemon game and get a plot and linear story as opposed to catch them all approach.

Overall, its kind of like asking for a numbered Final Fantasy release to be solely coded for the Xbox 360, unless you just want it to be an upscaled port from a previous handheld game.

Though Pokemon trading/battling over Live/Home/Wii internet would be pretty awesome. Bit more communication on that part then.

Actually a full 3D and open world Pokemon game would be nice to see.

I still play the older ones from time to time. RB/GS.

Nintendo seems to go by the "If it aint broke, dont fix it" line of thinking. So the chance that we'll have a game that isnt like Colloseum or the regular is pretty slim. Also, I think they sorta tried that with Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness.. but that ended up being like Pokemon Colloseum in a way as well. So eh, wasnt a fan of that one.

And before anyone says it, yes I know you ran around catching Pokemon, but im pretty sure you could only catch certain ones that were considered "Dark" pokemon or something. Then you had to cleanse them. So it was pretty.. lame.

One of the main features of Pokemon is meeting with your friends to trade Pokemon and battle.

This isn't as practical on the Wii, and I doubt as fun or sociable online.

Actually I do agree with that. The games as they are now are fine. If they stay this way, I wouldn't complain.

Still would be interested to see a full 3D format none the less.

That asking for too much innovation from a Nintendo title.
D'Aww, come on, give it a shot. We know Nintendo has a deadly phobia for trying new things, but it's not technically new. They kinda of made some hybrids allready.

I personally think it would be the best damn pokemon game so far. If they'd do it full 3D, with maybe a real-time command option(like the anime, but then without super-pikachu), that would be a real contender for game of the year.

I can only see the 3DS being a good thing for the series. It could possibly allow 3D models, bigger and perhaps more regions, and several other things I can't think of at the moment Since they're most likely going to stay on handhelds, the only way I see the series progressing drastically is with the 3DS. This is all speculation of course.

true about meeting up, but in my opinion XBL and dare is say it PSN are good enough meeting points for trades and it also opens up the circle of friends to trade with. as not just the 10 friends you have who got the game but then ALL the people in the work who bought it are there to trade with too

yeah i kinda agree with this. BUT say you had a console or even PC version and release updates to open up new regions, pokemon, gym systems, championships etc etc kinda i suppose like guild wars or WOW (though those grindtastic games do my head in)

Not every game needs to be 3D to be good.

In an age where 2D games are a rarity, it's nice to see games like pokemon still having decent graphics.

What is with everyone's obsession with 3D? It's like if a game isn't in 3D it's too ugly and not worth the effort to play.
