Huh. I just thought they ran out of colors and started on the alphabet.

But how about a more important question, IS ARCANINE EXCLUSIVE TO EITHER VERSION?! I MUST KNOW!
>.>

I don't think Arcanine is that big a deal anymore, cause I think they just broke the game.
...is that Mega Aggron?
yes, yes it is, and god only knows what kinda of insanity its gonna get from its Mega form.
WHY THE HELL ISN'T SATURDAY HERE YET? Seriously, that thing is going on my team. I didn't know he was a thing - thanks for letting me know :)

Huh. I always kind of figured it was chromosomes; especially seeing as they've brought in sexual dimorphism. Oh well. Still good reasoning. Looking forward to playing it someday maybe if I actually get me a 3DS.
They actually had sexual dimorphism since gold and silver. This is however the first game in which it isn't just a minor sprite change.
Nidoking and NidoQueen would like to say hi. Also Volbeat and Illumise, Gallade and Gardevoir, Vespiqueen, and to a degree Jellicent, and Unfezant.

But ya, still an interesting mechanic, although I'm a little surprised that everyone was thinking chromosomes when before we knew about the 'mega' evos, people where talking about axis because this was the first Pokemon game for the 3ds.
I don't really count Nidoking/queen or Volbeat and Illumise since the are treated as separate species that just happen to have a relation with each other. I will give you Gallade and Vespiqueen since they both come from the same base pokemon but Meowstic is the first pokemon that is different both ascetically and move pool wise whilst still being the considered the same pokemon.
Actually the nido group does share a commonality, but with their eggs.

Not at all. Gold and Silver, I can understand. However, Crystal? Pearl? Diamond? Ruby? Sapphire? Emerald? I have never heard of these being referred to as colours. You use colours to describe what a ruby looks like. Same with Sapphire or Emerald. However, you never see them classified as colours themselves.
Pearl [http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pearl], derived from pearlescent, is used to describe an off-white color (the same shade as the gem, actually). The same is also true for ruby [http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ruby], sapphire [http://www.thefreedictionary.com/sapphire] and emerald [http://www.thefreedictionary.com/emerald] for particularly vibrant shades of red, blue, and green respectively. These are the ones of that set most commonly used as colors, especially as descriptors in prose (eg, "A woman with ruby lips", "The sapphire sky", etc). Hell, even crystal [http://www.thefreedictionary.com/crystal] is commonly used as a color adjective, though admittedly it's generally a reference to the lack of any particular color (eg, "crystal glass", "Am I clear? Crystal!", etc).

You may not have encountered it before, but it's very much the truth. There's at least one definition in each one of those links that references color.

Diamond [http://www.thefreedictionary.com/diamond], however, is where your statement comes the closest to being true. This one doesn't actually have an official definition that means some form of color, and, at least where I live, it doesn't have any colloquial definitions for such either. One could certainly make the argument that Diamond and Crystal are very much in the same boat (especially since there's an actual grading system for the color of real diamonds) but that's not backed by any official language authority that I can find in a quick google search.

That looks awesome but I'm looking at the blue and red fonts at the top pages and the mewtwo pics with x and y... Do you only get one per game?

So X and Y refer to the Dimensional Axis?

Huh, I assumed they referred to X and Y Chromosomes.
This, which would make some sense considering there IS breeding in Pokemon.

As far as I'm aware, Arcanine is obtainable in both versions.

X exclusives: Starmie, Pinsir, Houndoom, Mightyena, Aggron and Sawk

Y exlusives: Cloyster, Heracross, Tyranitar, Manectric, Liepard and Throh

None of which matters anyway, because MegaGengar with Shadow Tag is going to be horribly broken and will destroy anything.

They have been doing that for a while now. The most prominent difference in being Latias and Latios in Ruby and Sapphire.

Luxray's in Diamond and Pearl, and Unfeazent in Pokemon black and white.
