Pokemon X and Y Trailer Reveals Some Version Exclusives

Pokemon X and Y's latest trailer also reveals the new "evil organization" in the upcoming RPG: Team Flare.

The latest Pokemon X and Y trailer from the Pokemon company summarizes a bunch of new information we've had trickled to us over the week - new Pokemon (including some version exclusives), the new "evil organization" and the new professor. First up, the previously revealed Clauncher is exclusive to Pokemon X while its counterpart Skrelp is exclusive to Pokemon Y. New reveals Swirlix, the while cotton candy-like Pokemon is a Pokemon X exclusive, while Spritzee, the pink bird-beaked Pokemon will only appear in Pokemon Y. Both of these new Pokemon are of the new Fairy type.

Other new Pokemon revealed this week were Pangoro, the evolution of Pancham, a Panda-like fighting/dark Pokemon that would make Jack Black proud, as well as Inkay and it's evolution Malamar, which are squid-like dark/psychic Pokemon. The new "evil organization" will be called Professor Sycamore [http://www.pokemonxy.com/en-us/characters/team_flare/].

Also revealed was the game's StreetPass and SpotPass feature: the Holo Caster [http://www.pokemonxy.com/en-us/whats_new/pss/]. You can get reports about the people you have passed by using StreetPass on your Holo Caster, and you can also receive SpotPass news bulletins about Pokemon X and Y, such as information on upcoming competitions.

Another cool new feature of the game's multiplayer component is the "Wonder Trade," which allows you to trade any Pokemon for a random Pokemon that someone else is offering. I'm sure 9/10 times it will be a Bidoof, but here's hoping there's some restrictions to actually make it worthwhile.

Lastly, the game will feature "Photo Spots," which will allow players to take screenshots in some specific locations with the ingame camera and upload them to their Pokemon Global Link webpage.

Pokemon X and Y will be released worldwide on October 12th.

I really hope Pokemon is on the 3DS for a good, long while, I don't want to have bought an entire handheld for just one or two games like I did for the PSP and Crisis Core/Dissidia.

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that they're only in this for the money. No deep philosophical goals or whatever... I think it could be interesting given this new gen's apparent nature theme.

If nothing else they've got some snazzy uniforms!

Agreed. Bidoof isn't even the worst starter rat we've ever had in a game (pretty sure it's still Rattata or Sentret even after all this time). And frankly... I think he's kinda cute. Again, I like the way he and his evolution look better than Rattata and Sentret.

Anyways, that Pancham looks freaking SWEET. I'm 100% certain I'm adding that dude to my team as soon as I can find one. And if I wasn't already sold on getting X instead of Y already, then the fact that X gets Clauncher INSTEAD of Skrelp is all the confirmation I need.

Gen 6 is shaping up quite nicely indeed.

Shrinking budget for games + No interest in buying a 3DS = No more new Pokemon for me.

Feels kinda bad stopping after following the games since Pokemon Blue but... sometimes you have to say goodbye to a series. I'm never going to stop playing the games I have but I just cannot cross into gen V. Maybe later, who knows. I've got other games I'm very interested in now and time makes a fool of us all...

Shame I'm spending money on trivial things like food, gas, education and car payments these days. 3 years ago I would have bought into all of this in a heartbeat. Pokemon realized into 3D fighting? Random trades online? Craziness!

Well if I ever do choose to get back up to date with the series, at least there will be a wealth of new things for me to do with Pokemon.

It's official, I am going to get Pokemon X because of Clauncher that is unless it evolved form is ugly like Corphish. While I do prefer the Skrelp over Swirlix but the puffball Pokemon isn't that bad looking.

Well the DS got Diamond, Platinum, Pearl, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black & White, Black & White 2... so you'll probably be fine.

The game looks 3D, but from everything I've seen of it, still plays the exact same way as the 2D games.

Apart from visuals, how else does it take advantage of 3D?
