Okay, I love Pokemon.
I mean, I fucking LOVE Pokemon.
If heaven was real, it would be Pokemon.. and naked girls.

But with ANOTHER remake of an old Pokemon game, it's made me realise,
aren't all the games exactly the same?
you collect all the pokemon talking to people who hint at a legendary Pokemon at the end, with team rocket/galactus blocking a path until you defeat their boss, then you do the elite four, then fill your Pokedex, then...
then what?
I've had about 500 hours of play time on Pokemon red, but that was when I was a kid, and hadn't discovered wanking.
Now I think about it, WHY does everyone love Pokemon so much?
comment and let me know, and also if you're gonna be buying the new game

It's like a Zynga game, except they offer some sense of achievement.

They love it for the exact same reason you loved it as a kid?

It's fun! It's one of the best turn-based combat games out there!

That's exactly what I thought when I was a kid and everybody was playing Pokémon. I always preferred Digimon, better story. I was so lonely... *sobs*

Just because something follows a set structure doesn't mean it stops being fun! And even if it did, nostalgia will always make it better.

It is such a simple game with so much depth. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages. There is so much to do, despite them all being very similar. Besides, the real Pokéfreaks don't play for the in-game battling, they just breeze through it so they can do competitive battling.

because the thought of animals fighting gives me a boner.

But yeah, I see what you mean, they are all kinda the same so why are they so popular, I guess it's something to do with the children and fan-boys.

You pretty much answered your question right there. They all have the same formula. I find it hard to stay motivated after the second generation, but young kids today will still have a blast.

There are plenty of new features in most of the games. The graphics keep improving and even if i will never use the new features eg the contests and poffins, they are things that people new to the games will use and enjoy.

ah, how i would have mocked you as a Child... wasn't until i was 15 and my brother bought me a digimon game for DS that i realised how awesome a game it actually is... i mean seriously, it was so damn kickass! (still, in this game it annoyed me that to get my digimon past level 43, i had to 'undigivolve' them to an earlier stage, so when i trained them up i could reach level 65... then have to do it a-frikking-gain...)

Still, i prefer Monster Rancher for PS1... thats a game i still play every so often now... sniff... its got so many scratches though from swapping the disk quickly in and out of the playstation with another disk (to be read and thus a monster obtained)... thats a game that made me cry though... my monster died of old aged, and its suprising how attached you can get to these things at the age of 7-12... And its re-play value is so amazing too. so annoyed that they didn't release PS2 versions outside of America >.<

I hate(d) Pokemon not because of anything at all to do with gameplay or the like. Simply because when it first became popular, it was a major fad and I had a real hatred for fads (this was back in elementary school) so I obstinately opposed it. Now, I don't care one way or the other but it seems like Pokemon games are just like Final Fantasy... as in, they're just rehashing the same thing over and over and over and people keep buying it. Actually, CoD would fall into that category as well. While I may never play a Pokemon game, I've only ever paid for FF 13 and CoD MW2, and I probably won't buy another game of either title. Not that their bad, it's just that I still don't like trendy games that people continue to support even tho it's always the same thing.

That's what's known as "Damning with feint praise". Seriously, how many turn based games are there? Oh well I just like for the strategical what-nots.

... Please tell me you're joking.

Or at the very least tell me that you're not implying that you think there isn't many turn based games out there.

I'm just very many that are... How to put this as well known as pokemon? Well that was obvious. Not that what I meant was obvious. Just that what I meant to say or rather "the point" is obvious. After I explain the convoluted BS that I call sentence structure.

Pokemon is a game series that does tend to repeat itself, but once you get into the game, you, or at least I, just don't want to stop until you win. It gets addictive and, like a good book, you can't put it down.

Exactly.
They didn't need to fix anything because the Pokemon formula is great the way it is.
Sure the Improvements they have made were good but, they dont need to overhaul the gameplay because to me at least it never gets old.

An old wise Hillbilly once told me "Dont fix wat aint boken!"

I'm not really sure why everyone loves Pokemon I guess it's because it makes people feel badass when they own creatures that can literally control the forces of nature. I stoped playing Pokemon in the ruby/sapphire season since I figured out that all the games were the same as you said.

Now if you want Pokemon with hot girls I suggest you watch this anime, because it's really Pokemon being replaced with buxom women.
