I watched the anime until the Ruby & Sapphire episodes. Same with the games. I got into the 4th generation now, but I stopped watching the show a long time ago.

Well it was a long time ago and I liked it alot, but that was only because I didn't have anything better to watch.akfg666 said:

I used to love everything Pokemon. I loved the imagination of it and everything. It had a sense of...character to it that attracted me to the series. And honestly, it was funny as hell. Then towards the end of the Johto series, it lost a good deal of its charm. I held on for as long as I could, but fell off as soon as it hit the Battle Frontier. Now they're just switching out a character every league, Ash has become flatter than decade-old soda, much of the character of the series had has long since been washed away, and developments in anything other than story are far and few between. It no longer seems fit for anyone older than 10, since adults can't maintain even remote interest in the show, speaking from personal experience.
Now don't get me wrong. If the series wants to cater to the younger generation, sure. But unless it wants to get back some of the older viewers, it's going to have to try for some of the things it left behind.

OT: Pokemon was awesome back in the day. I even recently re-watched the entire first season (all the way up to the Pokemon League) and I have to say it held up pretty well. It was a bit to kidsy and formulaic at times, but I still got quite a bit of enjoyment out of it.
It was great when I was a kid, when the games first came out I was in gaming heaven and I watched the show every morning. Also, I loved the trading cards, collecting them with all my friends was a great experience. I can't say why I exactly liked it now but I think was because I found a fair amount of charm in the show, and I loved the early Pokemon games because it was the first RPG I had ever played and it was fun collecting them all. I'm not interested in any of it anymore but I will always remember it.
I still have a lot of the rare collectible cards and I still enjoy the first Pokemon soundtrack though.

I recall watching it as a kid, I don't think there's anything I'm more ashamed of having wasted time and money on. The games were good for the gameboy a the time though.
I liked pokemon untill they went to Hoen then it started to suck and I probaly got to old to watched it I realy liked the different location they went to
I watched until it got to Gold/Silver and got sucked into Yu Gi Oh for a short bit, then I played Ruby and haven't touched it since. I thought a lot of the bigger Pokemon were sweet (Nidoking, Rhydon, Charzard), but at times I hated how different the show was compared to the game. Why was Pikachu so marginal in the games?
