This seems to be a growing trend in games, making you play bloody poker!

I am playing dead rising and now I have to play poker, the problem is I have no idea how to play poker ... I don't gamble, not out of moral views but you always lose, so anything more complicated than black jack is over my head.

So in essence, what the fuck do you do? What is a good hand and what is crap? Whats a blind and why are there two of them? What beats what?

I don't want to be the next guy on 888.com to win a million, so no over complicated bluff, double/triple bluff and how to read our opponents hand ... I just want to complete this stupid game thing.

You want similar cards or 5 cards in a row.

Blinds are to make sure there is always money to be won rather than no one betting.

The more cards you have the same or the higher the 5 cards in a row. The better your hand.

Just Google poker hands...

I would have googled it but I would end up with books detailing how to win big and over complicated strategies.

one pair
two pair
three of a kind
straight
flush
full house
straight flush
royal flush

google those and essentially you'll be trying to get the highest one of them possible
or failing that trying to make your opponent think you do through confident betting

Pft no you wouldn't have. What are you playing exactly? Texas Hold'em? (Where you only have 2 cards and more show up in the middle of the table?)

I suck at poker.

Basically, fold a LOT. I always fold immediately unless I'm dealt something really good. A pair, or a couple face cards. And even then, if I don't have something substantial that could probably win a hand once the first three cards are revealed, I'll still fold.

If you're the big blind, you've already paid for the first round of betting, so feel free to check regardless of what you were dealt to see what comes up, since it won't cost you any extra. But if someone raises right away, and you don't have anything great, FOLD.

Stay conservative like this and let the other players knock each other out. Once it's down to you and one other person, you can get more aggressive. Just remember: if you do have something you KNOW will probably win, don't go nuts, because you'll just scare off the other guy. Either don't raise or raise very small, try to trick them into raising higher. If they keep checking (passing without raising), they have nothing, and will fold the first chance they get.
