I mean, what's stopping the immigrants from leaving these cities after they're released there and going somewhere else? Is he gonna erect a force field too?

This is not really thought out properly.

He's trying to get back at the evil lefties by dumping immigrants randomly, and he will scream about rape and crime getting out of control, even when it didn't happen.

Since when did Trump think ANYTHING out properly? He doesn't know what it means to think ahead, that was why he ran his businesses into the ground until he hired babysitters to run them so he wouldn't break everything he touches anymore and make him look good.

Which worked out very well for him, though. At face value, this isn't a good idea, but as sound and fury signifying nothing, but pleasing to his supporters mightn't be so bad. People keep labeling Trump as stupid, I think much of the time he's apathetic or malevolent instead.

I don't think it is an either/or. I see him as being apathetic, malevolent AND stupid, among other things...

Presumably that other places don't try to avoid enforcing immigration laws, and he's overestimating or planning to increase enforcement in the areas surrounding sanctuary cities..

He's not dumping them randomly, he's specifically dumping them in places that are averse to the enforcement of immigration laws. It's basically catching your kid with a cigarette and making them smoke an entire carton as punishment.

Of course, if illegal immigration on a massive scale is even a tenth as bad as the right generally claims, being in the midst of it has a reasonable chance of sending folks rightward. Or just causing some folks to move away as crime goes up and property values go down, you know "white flight."

Either one might change the demographics enough to make a difference, after all the illegals can't legally vote.

Define what places will be Sanctuary Cities?
They're places averse to enforcement of immigration law. Literally what defines them is making enforcement of immigration law unnecessarily difficult.

lel... Release the migrants and asylum seekers to neighborhoods with champagne socialists and watch as Democratic approval ratings at these neighborhoods plummet while white flight hasn't fully changed the nature of the area... Show them who they are letting into their country and paying for their healthcare, education and benefits.

Releasing them to and keeping them in the sanctuary cities, in areas that are historically democratic, would contain the influence non-registered non-citizen voters can have on US general elections... Truly most of those states don't even have the most basic voter-ID laws... Maybe when the money runs out, they will realize that they've made a mistake of giving benefits that were meant for their families to complete strangers from a different country. Europeans still haven't figured that out.

Y'Know the Mexicans didn't want the Honduras migrant caravan, they called them ungrateful and entitled... Imagine that, would you accuse them of racism, since they are both mostly Mestizo...

What exactly is a champagne socialist? You realize many of these sanctuary cities are farm towns, rural, working and middle class... far from champagne anything. Prior to Trump, Obama was actually harsher on Illegal immigrants than Bush. Bush proposed granting them amnesty. Most of those who actually offer sanctuary and sponsor immigrants are Christians and happen to be Republican. You should understand with the history of the US, most of the US was colonized by Christian "missionaries" and these towns and cities are still heavily influenced by this. The issue of southern migration to the US is still a very divisive issue among the Republican party.

Are these the Champagne socialists you speak of?

In addition, the idea of non citizen voter fraud has been shown to be untrue, the only serious issues we have had in the US with voter fraud as of late have been actually perpetrated by republicans.

Suburban liberals and socialists. You can google it, as I have. I read about this term when I encountered a study about white flight in Chicago. Poltical views are directly tied to the neighborhood you live in (social-economic class, your neighbors, the community, services, etc.) Funny to know few people get their opinions off the Internets.

Not having voter id laws is in my eyes complete lunacy. Do note I come from a place with mandatory IDs, and you're expected to have at least one type of ID on you at all times...

My Uncle lives in Staten Island. Last time I visited he told me about the wonders of the world. How the Muslims in the neighborhood tried to by an old catholic church to turn it into a mosque, and how they had a power-play prayer outside by the beach at a park nearby... NYC is getting more expensive to live in, as long as you're a working citizen. If you're an undocumented immigrant you can have free access to its shambles of a school system so you could have a unionized teacher babysit your kid while you go out and work in the black somewhere... Seattle, Los-Angeles, Austin, New Mexico, Vermont, NYC, Colorado... Sanctuary cities and areas that take kindly to undocumented immigrants.

It's easy to help someone and give them aid when it's not your own money.

In '14 I spoke with some activists when I was near Jenin. The conversation veered into the hate-speech the african migrant community was getting hit by... They told me the state should take care of them, house them, give them citizenship... I asked them if they could have let one of those people into their homes. Fed them, clothed them, trusted them to be a part of their household... They went like fish and quieted down for a moment before turning back into the whole reason why there were there in the first place... That's champagne socialists. They don't need to work so them come and harass me at my job so they can feel good about themselves...

They're generous as long as it's not their own money. I love people that open their hearts and help others just because they want to. I hate people that want to give away help to strangers so they can feel good about themselves, help they are not giving themselves - oh no, the state must do it, otherwise it's racist!

I think you may misunderstand a few things in terms of " voter ID laws" In the US, this primarily impacts older women, the poor and Native Americans. Due to traditional christian families in the US, many women did not work and did not drive and to this day we still have many elderly christian women who have never owned an ID of any kind. This is more prevalent in rural areas rather than cities. There are other issues as well, as some people have never been given an actual street address by a post office. Without an address, you cannot obtain an ID in the US, even if your family has resided there for thousands of years. This is also more prevalent in rural areas and on reservations. We actually still have people who live in rural areas that do not even have roads leading to their house to have mail delivered. This is the reality of the US, and you cannot simply take away their right to vote as that would be unconstitutional. The vast majority of the United States is rural and spread out. Where you come from and the realities of the US are very different things.

When you actually take a good look at who is actually offering sanctuary in the US, it is not the "champagne socialists" it is the working and middle class Christians who actually DO take them into their own homes, have built them their own homes and have been supporting them through their churches for decades. This is not anything new in the US, especially in regions like Texas that were formerly part of Mexico and heavily settled by missionaries. Most of the southwest United States actually used to be part of Mexico, and was originally settled much in the same way. Here deep in " Trump country" in the bible belt is where I see white, evangelical christian megachurch members taking in illegal immigrants into their homes, as I have seen happen during my childhood as well. This is not new, and has been a function of the evangelical churches here since their founding. Trump being elected does not change that and his harsh stance has actually been alienating some of his core supporters on that front.

Over half of evangelical leaders (53 percent) attend churches that have immigrant or refugee ministries, according to the November Evangelical Leaders Survey. Some of the ministries described include English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, welcome teams for refugee families, legal aid, and financial support for organizations that provide direct assistance.
https://www.nae.net/churches-host-immigrant-refugee-ministries/

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/04/18/who-has-bewitched-you-conservatives-alarmed-christian-students-protest-pence-speech/?noredirect=on

You should also understand that what may apply to Staten Island, does not apply to the rest of the US. Immigrants here do not have access to welfare or medicaid and have to work to survive. The only help they usually get is from Churches who are primarily Republican. This is also one of the highest immigration regions in North America, so this is not like it applies to a small amount of people. By targeting people who offer sanctuary, Trump is also targeting a good portion of his base.

EDIT: Considering THIS (Texas) is where the vast majority of immigrants have been being bused to from Guatemala, This is who will be most impacted by this.

So Trump is now going to start shipping Immigrants to two southern Florida Counties and offer no federal funding to accommodate them:

Broward, Palm Beach counties bracing for planeloads of immigrants from crowded U.S. camps

The Trump administration is preparing to move hundreds of migrants from overcrowded camps along the U.S. border to Broward and Palm Beach counties, local officials said Thursday.

Broward Mayor Mark Bogen and Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said they were told to expect about two planeloads of migrants each week, starting in about two weeks. The 270 weekly passengers ? about 1,000 each month ? would be split, with half going to Palm Beach County and half to Broward.

?I asked if there was an end date to this and they said no,? Bradshaw said in a news conference Thursday afternoon.

He said the number of migrants his county wants to accommodate is ?zero.? Both counties have significant homeless populations and full shelters.

?Every day we?re watching our border right here, which is the ocean," Bradshaw said. "We spend a lot of time to make sure people don?t come in to South Florida illegally.?

The news came as a surprise to local officials, who said they reached out to Florida?s two Republican senators, the Republican governor and other members of the federal delegation and were told no one had been advised by the Trump administration.

Late Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis still had made no public statement about the situation.

Bradshaw said the chief of the Miami border patrol office came up and told him earlier this week. Bogen said Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony also was advised by border patrol.

Sheriff Tony and the Broward Sheriff?s Office did not respond to inquiries Thursday about the possible influx.

The federal government would offer no money or help to house the people, officials said.

Bradshaw said he was told the migrants are families who came from El Paso. They do not face charges, and will be released after they?re processed by border patrol, he said. They?ll be given notices to appear at immigration hearings. It was unclear how the federal government would keep track of the people.

You know, to counter Trump's horrible plan, they really should pay to move them all to the greens at Mar A Lago and set up camp there, as he seems to have plenty of room since he doesn't think he should help with funding for this.

He probably wants to hire them. I cant think of any specific examples but its like in a comedy where someone takes all of something to 'dispose' of it but really is just stealing it for themselves.

But I think all golf courses should be used for immigrant housing. Fuck golf courses.

You might be right considering Mar A Lago is in Palm Beach, one of the first two cities he is sending them to and Trump is well known for hiring undocumented immigrants so it would not surprise me.
