What do you guys think? Was this justified or totally not needed?

FUCK NO!!! HE'S EIGHT! You grab him and hold him down, you don't hit him with pepper spray. Why not use a taser or rubber bullets? Jesus, is it that hard to restrain an eight year old. I've held down kids a lot older than eight who tried to hit me with a stick. It's not even fucking hard. these officers should be jailed, after being pepper sprayed themselves. I mean, they did it to the poor kid twice. Once I could maybe except as just bad decision making and stupidity, but twice is either negligence or cruelty and absolutely unacceptable.

I take it from the numerous replies of people saying the kid deserved it and how the woman is a shit parent never actually read the article in question.

He goes to a school specifically for children who are likely mentally ill and have behavioral and emotion issues. Police and staff are supposed to be trained to handle something as delicate as this, and they screwed the pooch big time. Using violence on a child of questionable mental health status with a violent predisposition is the stupidest thing you can possibly do in this situation.

Totally should have pepper sprayed him. He looks fine now, and they have soft hitting news trying to make him look good, but when he said he got so mad he wanted to kill and stab these teacher, I lost any sympathy I had for this kid.

Totally justified. Yes he is eight, but this is not his first time. He has a troubled past, that has extreme anger management issues. This child needs to get some counseling. Now on to the mom, its not my fault that my child acts up, I am tired of this argument. The mom should be happy that the police only sprayed him, I mean really there is a lot worse things that could have happened. And how does she know the training that the police go through, this is her using her child for fame and it is sickening.

They were totally justified. The kids fine now, and he was in a violent rampage when it happened, and that is what pepper spray is for. So he's eight, he shouldn't really be acting in any way that deserves the spray, but he was.

The thing about the teachers is.. There not LEGALLY allowed to touch this kid.. no matter WHAT. they probably weren't even scared OR since they work with these crazy ass kids beforehand they knew how much damage they could cause in a PURE FUKIN RRRRRAAAAAAAGEE!!!!!! and didnt want there eye's gouged out with crayons. As for The Cop's.... I applaud them for this they handled this situation perfecty ...... And for all those people saying they should have taken the stick away from him... The police are trained to take EVERY call seriously even it involes a 8 year old with a stick. see what if during some random school shooting they were just like 'OH its just some dumb teenager with a gun' then he would probably kill his hostages ............... nuff said.

I know, looking around the house, you can see they just get him toys and let him run a-muck. I'm willing to bet he runs the house and kicks and screams when he doesn't get his way. And then when his authority is challenged by teachers he flips out. That is what I am willing to bet happened. And they are trying to cover it up by making the police look like they messed up.

But no lady, we should train the police to hand every possible unlikely situation in case it happens instead of just using pepper spray and being done with it. We should spend endless hours figuring out what might happen, and countless tax payer dollars to train the police for scenarios that are very rare.

You'd think that considering the school he's in, the teachers there would know how to deal with kids like him. And yet they locked themselves inside an office and called the police. If I was in their place, I would've easily took the stick away from him. Even then, did they really need to get the cops involve? Don't they have campus security?

Finally, he's done this twice before, and both times the police had to be called in. I personally blame the mother for not punishing him or correcting his behavior after the first time. When I was that kid's age, whenever I acted out in school, my parents would actually punish me and take away my privileges.

Get off your high horse. Not all children need beatings, in fact, most do not. But when someone has serious behavioural issues, there needs to be a bottom line.

I for one had serious behaviour problems. My parents never beat me bloody, but sometimes a smack on the butt was all that was needed when nothing else would work.

How did I turn out? Very successful member of society and a well rounded human being.


I do agree that the mother is a low-life. If I had been threatening the teachers with violence, I would have been afraid to tell my parents that I got pepper sprayed because I would have been in deep, deep shit -- much worse than some silly pepper spray.
It's that mentality that most of these children do not have. They go home, and mommy comforts them and tells them that the police were wrong.
