. The punishments really need to be much higher, because it's obvious from so many repeated breaches that it's well worth their while.
Death. These things usually directly and indirectly lead to such a huge number of deaths around the world that they should be treated like war crimes. It's not by accident. These people know that the choices they make to enrich themselves are going to kill people. They fully know what the consequences are. They should be treated as such.

I have a general problem with ways the law deals with corporations, in the sense that it seems even when the corporation takes the hit, individuals who make the decisions rarely seem to have to take personal legal responsbility. Their careers might be damaged, but that's nothing like the same thing.

It seems to me not dissimilar to the way that internet anonymity can breed a lack of civil conduct as people can avoid their life taking a lot of the fallout from poor behaviour.

Their careers rarely even get damaged if at all. Usually bring able to declare bankruptcy and walk away from a business that has ruined countless lives is a mark of how good you are at your job. Destroy lives and walk away unscathed you probably have a new career as a life coach giving speeches for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
