The N64 Game (the one that uses Pierce Brosnan's face and not that no-talent douche Daniel Craig's).

I was expecting the game too, this being the escapist and I was hoping for a discussion as to the game's quality. Well, since you didn't ask:
Personally, I liked the game when it came out, but by God, it's aged horribly. It's a testament to how far games have come that it sucks so much by comparison.
... what are you comparing it to? Name me a Video game based on a movie that came out since golden eye 007 that is better ? If your going to compare it compare it on fair terms. Not only was Golden eye an amazing game when it came out, the game is pretty fun , and it is one of the only video game based on a movie ( based on a book i think ) that is any good

You sure? I'd stay rather play that then any COD or any other shooter these days.
Even Half-Life?
I meant to say most of them, but yes probably even Half Life (we talking about one or two?) i loved the multiplayer and it was much more difficult then Half Life.

:(

I'd say that the difficulty of Goldeneye mostly comes from how stiff the controls were. It was kinda the first console shooter and they didn't have the controls down perfectly yet. If you converted it to the handy mouse and keyboard controls, the game really doesn't seem like it would be all that challenging. The enemies are really slow to react and the AI can be really thick at times.

Then again, there are a lot of shooters out there today that are really shitty in entirely different ways. A statement about steps forward and steps back may be applicable at this time.

...I just lost.

But I thought of the game as well. I've never played it, and I've never seen the movie, but I've heard a lot more about the game, since I'm much more of a gamer than a movie geek.

This.

Great game though. N64's finest hour. Perfect Dark was shit though.
Blaspheme I say!

Perfect Dark practically destroyed goldeneye in most area's, especially multi-player, and graphics.

It did lack the charm of goldeneye though, but it's defiantly not a shit game. You personally disliking it, doesn't make it terrible one bit.
Agreed, why is Perfect Dark so terrible. I played a heck of a lot more Perfect Dark than Goldeneye. That's not to say Goldeneye was bad, but Perfect Dark was better.

OP, You're comparing a moderate movie against a landmark of FPS console games, obviously most people are going to remember the game before they remember the movie.
It'd be like saying 'What do you remember first, The Iron Man film or the Iron Man game?'

Pretty much what he said.

Your poll is biased due to your respondent population selection and inherent trends of its placement.

Yes, I do work in market research, why do you ask?

The game, but only because of long gaming sessions with friends that normally ended with someone getting punched in the face for picking Oddjob every match. Good times...

CURSE YOU OP!

Anyways, yeah, the game.

EDIT: Wait... if we didn't know it, does that technically mean we never lost? My brain hurts now.

Naaaaaah I'm just messing that was NOT my intention, it was just really funny that it turned out that way

actually the reason I made this poll was because of a comment Screwattack.com made awhile ago that got me thinking

The game was the first thing I thought of. The movie was pretty good too, but I remember the game rather fondly. Hasn't aged well at all though, mostly because of the N64 controller itself.

The game, although that would be true even on a different forum.
Heck, I watched the movie just two days ago and as they entered each new scene all I could think of was what the level was called. Also, at the end, I had the Cradle music in my head over the actual movie's music.

I might go play it on an emulator actually. It can't be that bad..

For sure, it was just not to my personal taste. I know a lot of people liked it, if your one of them, good luck to you! :)

That boggles my mind! How can you consider Goldeneye N64's "finest hour" but think Perfect Dark was shit? They're practically the same game! Only PD added bots (if you wanted), co-op, and a bazillion other features.

Please elaborate, I really want to hear your reasoning for this statement.
OK, easy tiger, its just my opinion, not gospel.

I did not like it cause I was not a fan of the futuristic setting and the weapons that came with it. A gun that can shoot though walls, pass. After the near perfect game that Goldeneye was it just felt a wee bit gimmicky and was not to my personal taste. I played it for several hours, thought it was shit and never went back to it.

If you liked it; more power to you! :)
