It has taken 24 weeks to get to this point but the time has finally arrived, it's semi-final week! For those of you who are unfamiliar with AFL, Google it, you're missing out. Only six team remain our of the eighteen who started the season they are, Hawthorn, Sydney, Adelaide, Fremantle, Collingwood and West Coast. This week Adelaide plays Fremantle and Collingwood plays West Coast for a chance to play against either Hawthorn or Sydney in the preliminary final and earn a spot in the grand final.

These is one of the biggest occasions in Australian sporting culture and the majority of the country is starting to get excited. If you are not Australian I encourage you to try and watch the games online, they are like nothing you have seen before (pm me if you would like a stream of the games).

Who will you be barracking for during the 2012 AFL finals series? I'm going for my team, the Fremantle Dockers!

I'm happy with anyone but West Coast making the finals. My three favourite teams are all on the same side so I'm guaranteed to have a team I follow in the grand final (Fremantle, Hawthorn and Adelaide).

Hopefully Kirk can be of good use for the Dockers in the coming years.

I think Hawthorn will win but I really want Freo to do it for Pav.

Ballaz is a legend and is actually a really good player. If he was in your team you'd love him.

Nah I have no time for 'nigglers' in any sport. I am not impressed when I see Stevie J dishing out shit either :p

Ballentyne is a good player, but he should let his play do the talking. I have a closet desire to see Ballentye viciously beaten to the point of retirement, probably the only human alive whom I can say that about lol
Ballantyne hasn't been quite so pesty lately, just playing really well.

Freo also has their X-factor, one Kepler Bradley!

I've tried to watch it, honestly, but it does nothing for me, I'm much more an NRL man.

Out of those: I live in Sydney, my grandmother supports Hawthorn, and my uncle supports Collingwood. So any of those for as much as I care. But, I can appreciate that others love it whereas I don't, so for those who do, I hope it's a cracking game.

Sounds like I might be getting myself in trouble for posting support for Collingwood here. But no matter, I can't help who I like. I just wish it was easier to actually follow AFL in the US, especially without cable. I haven't been up on the current state of the game for years.

I just don't care anymore. After North's run to the finish, I thought we might've had a shot. Not at winning, but at least making the semis/prelims.

And then we went down so hard. It was heartbreaking.

But not Hawthorn. My brother's a hawthorn supporter, and if they win he'll be an insufferable prick.

This is where streaming sites come in handy. I've only been able to watch five Freo games on TV all year.

Hawthorn is the flag favourite this year.
