While watching the trailer for that Clash of the titans movie it boasted that you can see it in 3-D as well as 2-D, and while the idea has been in my head for awhile seeing this trailer has made me ask the question.

Is 3-D in recent movies becoming more than just a fad, will it become a staple for movies that rely heavily on CG?

For me personally I always viewed movies in 3-D as a fad, and so I normally go with the normal( and slightly cheaper) version of the movie.

i dont like the fact that i have to wear uncomfortable goggles for 1.5-2 hours that also make my head spin. 3-D sucks

I hate it, as it looks no different to me. And regular movies look no different than reality, so I fail to see the point. Plus, the glasses are uncomfortable.

I think it benefits some movies. Avatar's 3D was just excellent.
But there are too many movies doing it now, and I really don't want to wear those stupid glasses everytime I go to the movies.

Depending on how well it's done, if could be awesome.
Avatar's 3D was nothing short of breathtaking. I couldn't tell you how many times I tried to shoo away falling ash or seeds or something when they 'floated' by my face. Very cool.
The glasses I con't mind, since I wear glasses anyways and they didn't really bother me.

As long as the 3D is there to enhance (Show a depth of field), and not be a gimmick, then I'm all for it.
Which means no scenes like this:
"Stop I'm a police officer! See? Here is my BAADGE!" *Jams badge in the face of the camera*
No thank you.
