Before I start, I want to make it clear that this isn't a question of which console is *better*. No flame wars, please.

Anyways, I've decided to pick up a GameFly account. However, I only have a PS3 (okay, a Wii too, but that doesn't even count), so I was considering picking up a cheap 360 to play all the exclusive games seeing that I now get them for "free".

So here's my question: Assuming that I can afford it, are the games that are exclusive to the 360 worth buying a console over? I'm taking a bare-bones console here, so don't worry too much about it.

EDIT: Ah, I also have a high-quality gaming computer, so PC ports/games aren't an issue. I was more referring to consoles exclusively.

Just be careful with getting a "cheap" 360. Be it refurbished, used, whatever.. want to remain cautious on the RROD and a poorly kept console. When you get it (if it's used), then make sure to blow as much dust as possible out of the system, through the vent ducts. Make sure it's well ventilated on first-run also.

The exclusives are worth it, in my opinion.

You have games like:

Alan Wake
Gears of War (Series)
Forza Motorsport (Series)
Dead Rising (Series)
Fable (Series)
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Mass Effect (Series)
and Halo of course..

So.. up to you. There are more too. Each console has jaw-dropping amazing exclusives.

Here's my suggestion.

If you are primarily a single player person, go with the PS3. Not so great on exclusives now, but they are well on their way to reaching the full potential of the PS3's ridiculous graphics capability.

If you generally like online interactions with friends, In other words a multiplayer gamer, go with the 360. You will have to buy a few extra trinkets, which will eventually mean that you are spending as much as you would on a PS3.

I mostly game for the multiplayer aspect of games with friends, so I chose the 360. Just be prepared to feel ripped off every once in a while.

Their both great consoles

PS3 offering great single player experiences
Xbox360 offering great online services and playing with friends

They both do offer the same thing from each other but thats the way I see it.

Get a 360 with a warranty, you have been warned.

I bought the Best Buy replacement plan, and I'm on my 4th unit.

Again, you have been warned.

Yeah, a lot of games are on PC as well, but this is talking Console vs. Console exclusives. He never mentioned anything about PC..

But if he has a decent PC, then yeah.. I'd definitely recommend he play any of the games on that instead. Then again.. you can't get PC games from Gamefly, so it's not an option in this particular thread.

Dunno, but I'm thinking about the same. Some of the XBLA games that I want are part of the reason, and the others are a few of the exclusives. Not sure if it's worth the money, though.

I was in the opposite situation not long back. Had (and still fucking love) my 360 (3rd incarnation) since release, and got a PS3 slim about a month ago for the exclusives (Gran Turismo, Killzone 3, DC Universe online, Heavy Rain etc).

I use my 360 for multiplatform games, and my PS3 for exclusives, and it's definitely worth it IMO.

Also, you should Velcro your 360 and PS3 together like I did. Make a monster.

Just get it! I got both and it's been well worth it. Xbox for it's exclusives, PS3 for free online and PC for everything else!

I have a PS3, and I've often considered picking up a 360, simply so I can play a couple of exclusives. However, Microsoft seems to be losing a few exclusive licenses here and there (Mass Effect, Dead Rising), so I'll wait a bit longer and see how it goes. I'd advise you to do the same.

did you just say that XBL is a great online service??

OT: Its about exclusives really. Mass Effect was the clincher for me.

yeah, they are really fun sometimes, and there are good games on both consoles. It all depends on which games you like better really, because to be honest, both consoles are pretty much the same anyway, they just look different on the outside.

If I HAD to recommend one, it would have to be the 360, because I have had my 360 for much longer than my PS3, so I guess I am more used to it.

But whatever floats your boat really...

EDIT: Why does everyone seem to be saying that the PS3 is better for single player? I would of thought the single player is the same on all consoles, in fact, I'm pretty sure I know that as a fact. But correct me if I am wrong.

You can actually find good wii games!
Dont be hatin on the wii.
on topic: I wouldnt, unless you had the money to get a new one. Consoles are one of the many things you should never get used, in my opinion.
Used games are good though.
