So I was going through the Games on Demand, the 360's portal to downloading full games (NOT the Xbox Arcade), and was wondering how other people thought of it. It seems like the only way to get a game at a low price is for it to have been released at least five years before or be of questionable quality.

I can't really see the appeal to it and am wondering if others use the service. Space on hard drives (I've even got the 120GB hard drive and run low on space, let alone someone with a smaller version) and the pricing in general cause me to shy away from it. I'm just not sure why I would pay $40-$60 for games on here when I could get them from a retailer or amazon for the same (and many times, cheaper). I assume that if you are so far from retailers that it's better to use Games on Demand, I can't imagine your internet is good enough to give you the game at a reasonable rate.

So do you use Games on Demand? Yes or no, is there a specific reason?

Well i have used it multiple times, but i dont use it often if at all because 1 price is fuckng expensive and you cant give it back if its shit and 2 memory is tight, and its better to have a physical copy. but it is mostly resale i dont mind the price but getting a shit game and not being able to sell back makes 0 enjoyment= no investment return, because all game purchases are investments in fun and entertainment.

I dont know how it is where you live but the Australian version of xbox live is pretty broken and the GoD is worse still. I have used it once because GTA4 was about $20 cheaper than at the store at the time, Games that are very old seem to still be very expensive and never budge in price.

but than again, this is the same system that i could sell an indie game of my own creation but i am not able to buy any indie games...because they are all locked.

I've never used it. I like the idea of the Games On Demand service. I'm not one of those people that HAS to have their game in a box and I don't care about resale value cos by the time I would've traded in games their value is generally crap anyway. But the prices are just too high for Games On Demand. I remember when Halo 3 finally went on Games on Demand and they were charging £40 for it if I recall correctly )it was either 3 or Reach but I'm pretty sure it was 3).

If Games On Demand starts having reasonable prices for their games, I would be perfectly fine with using it but, at the moment anyway, it's out of the question.

That price thing has been my biggest stickler point.

Games on Demand (I just took random three games, no particular reasons and Star Wars chosen specifically because it was a current generation game for $20)
Fallout: New Vegas, $40.
CoD Black Ops, $60,
Homefront, $40.
Star Wars Force Unleashed II, $20

Amazon (New versions after shipping)
Fallout: New Vegas, $22
Cod Black Ops, $46
Homefront, $28
Star Wars Force Unleashed II, $21

ONE example here, the cheapest game, gets beaten out by Games on Demand and even then, a negligible amount. I think it could be an awesome service and something I would gladly go with if the pricing was at least reasonable.
