I can somewhat see the appeal of 3D gaming, seeing as how you become a bit more immersed in your game. However, relying on 3D to sell games (let alone make a game good) is simply moronic. I personally believe that 3D is only a gimmick. I really can't see the value in seeing a soccer ball or a bullet flying toward your face, only to realize a few seconds later it isn't real. Sounds a bit schizophrenic to me. What are your opinions on 3D gaming? Is it an essential advancement in gaming tech or just a passing fad?

If they make me wear those glasses then I don't like it...

3D gaming is a fad, it'll go away and come back again in a few years time.

As long as I have a big shiny 'Turn 3D off' option then you can add all the crazy bits you want.

I do not want a to be gaming with a headache from those glasses...

My fear is that 3D will be seen as a fad, as mentioned by GamesB2, however I think it has the potential to be awesome. Remember in Matrix or more recently in the Avatar (with actual 3D film effects) where they had floating heads up displays? Can you imagine how sweet that would be in a FPS type game? Also roleplaying games would have more depth, such as wandering though a forest, would feel like you were really wandering through a forest.

(I think if games are designed with 3D in mind from the start, and it has a meaningful use then yes the technology will catch on.)

If 3D takes over the gaming industry (as it is probably will) as systems go 3D, graphics and game-play will suffer as well as the time it takes to make the game. I think 3D (as with motion controls are a step in the wrong direction for video games (but i cling to hope that PC's wont be taken over by 3D the way everything else is.)

3D is an improvement. At least it will be once it's decently supported and you don't suffer the inconveniences of wearing glasses or extra eye strain. It won't be much of an improvement, though, and will add extra costs, so I'm not terribly excited about it.
