Capcom released a versus mode on Resident Evil 5, where teams can battle blah blah we all know how this works.

The catch is that they're charging $5 for it. Personally, I don't like it. The game came out way too recently to make it seem like devoted additional content. It's just a cash in.

Well it depends. It's not really a yes or no question.

It's an extra feature, so really, yeah we should have to. I think some of you are confusing 'having to' with 'wanting to'.

Wow. Shouldn't it be built into the game if it's been out for a day? That is a complete waste of money. I could be spending those 5 dollars on something else!

Capcom said that IT'S ON THE DISC!

Same with the SF4 costumes, and their 80 dollar collectors edition that hardly had anything the 4 dollar (PER CHARACTER) costume packs do.

Then there is the Megaman 9 DIFFICULTY LEVELS - what the fuck? Difficulty levels as DLC? How about the ability to save and use analog sticks for sale too?

Seriously, boycott capcom DLC.

Wow, are they seriously charging people for that crap? Jesus fucking christ they must be greedy.

The scary thing is i bet alot of people will still buy it.
Well of course. I mean, while we're sitting here debating the issue, someone out there just looked at the DLC list and said "I can download a VERSUS MODE?! Fuckin' sweet deal!" Or maybe they just have money to throw around. "Eh? $5 for a Versus Mode? Well, shoulda been with the game, but why not? *downloads, then rolls a hundred dollar bill and smokes it*"

But, really, if you don't like it, the best way to say no is to not download it. Its the closest thing to criticism that they'd actually pay attention to.

obviously everyone is going to say no for paying extra because naturally no one likes spending and wasting the little money they have.

But, re5 is awesome itself.

Actually, boycotting the DLC doesn't really make enough of a statement. If you buy a $50 (however much it is) copy of RE5 and boycott the $5 DLC, do you honestly think Capcom cares? They just sold you something for at least ten times that price!

If you want to make a statement against Capcom's treatment of the consumer, boycott Capcom products entirely.

I would, if and only if it includes Tofu as a playable character. But seriously, delay the launch for a month you cheap bastards.

This is their quote an official site:
"Although Versus mode makes use of the assets that exist in the game, the functionality is not currently in the game and is above and beyond the initial scope of Resident Evil 5," the publisher told UK gaming news site CVG.

They even telling you IN YOUR FACE that the capability of versus mode is preexisting within the game, and that your have to buy their BS 'DLC' that will 'switch' on this functionality (which will probably be like a 100k file to do this). This is really insulting that they're not even trying to hide the fact that this is 'extra' content that they coded just for the game (this DLC came out the same day as the game was released for god sakes), and that you have pay for content that already in the game.

I don't mind paying for extra content if it is truly 'extra' content to extend the playability of the game, but this is ridiculous... Ah.. I'm just ranting now.. I just won't buy this and neither should anyone else.

Most of Capcom's DLC is cash-in. Costumes (SF4 and dead rising), difficulty levels (megaman), things that should have come with the game (in this case, vs. mode in RE5). I don't buy any of it nor will I.

First, grammar and spelling! "ou" wrote one sentence, it is not that difficult to look back and read what you wrote. Or is what you wrote so unimportant even to the author that it isn't worth reading?

Second, it is not that we have to, it is that we should not have to. The game was just released without the vs. mode and now they intend to make us pay for it when it should have come with the game in the first place. This clearly could have been put into the game without any delay to release or shipping but they axed it at the last second and immediately released it as DLC to make more money off the game.

Really? What difference would it make? If nobody is buying the DLC then wouldn't they stop doing it? The games are in demand and the DLC isn't.

They may as well be, the shit is on the disc.

A company trying to make money????? Those bastards!!!! WTF are they thinking? Maybe if people didn't buy a used copy for 5 dollars less they wouldn't have to use such tactics to make sure you hang onto the game longer.

It doesn't matter if nobody is buying the DLC, but ARE buying the game. It's not enough of a loss of profits for Capcom to really give a rip.

Besides, you just know lots of other people ARE shelling out for the DLC, so your refusal to part with $5 doesn't affect Capcom at all. If, on the other hand, you got a group of several thousand people to boycott Capcom products ENTIRELY (and explain that charging extra money for something that's already on the disc is why), that could make more of an impact on Capcom's bottom line.

If anything, the lack of interest in the DLC would just tell Capcom that people don't really want online co-op/versus/whatever it is. Maybe they'd just leave that feature off of their next game entirely. After all, they are boneheads.

What I'm saying is that Capcom doesn't care about the consumer as long as they're still making money. Influence that, and they might listen to you. But $5 just doesn't make enough of an impact. Like you said, the feature is already on the disc. So a few thousand people don't want to pay Capcom to play it? Big whoop. It's only 5 bucks. What do they care about a few thousand dollars?

I'm just trying to help you out.
