Poll: 8-bit music

Anyone likes 8-bit/chiptune music? What do you like more? In-game music or new stuff?

It depends.

Myself I am a fan of 8-bit music but only in the sense that like all music, it has evolved. Sure you have your 8 Bit Weapon and ComputHer providing the retro stylings of original videogame music, but then you have artists such as She or Machinae Supremacy who use the 8-bit sound to add to the music rather than consist of all of it.

While I enjoy listening to remade or brand new retro stylings, I prefer new music with 8-bit sounds rather than a full 8-bit track.

For people interested, She and Machinae Supremacy have loads of free music for download on their sites.

8-bit music is pretty cool, and it was used very well in no more heroes to add to the insane world. I like how the DSi can turn your music 8-bit.

It can be good. It's all varied. I like what can be created within certain constraints, it shows so much creativity.

I like 8 bit rave/techno/hardcore tracks done on Cubase on the Atari/Amiga. Glorious 8-bit mono!

Check out 'Horse: The Band' they record hardcore songs to/over/inspired by old 8-nintendo games and music.

They call it nintendocore.

I love chiptune more than anything in the world. Well, not quite. But I like it a lot. If ever there was a kind of music that's guaranteed to make me happy, etc. Myspace is awash with great examples, I'll flick through my friends list and come back with a few later.

I tried to get into making it myself, but obviously lolfailed.
