Absolutely, unequivocally, emphatically, NO.

We do not need to encourage people to act like they do everywhere else online.
Maybe we should have a quiz for newcomers, which covers the rules of posting and topic creation, though. And until they pass it, they cannot post or create new topics.
That could stop some of the problems.
That is actually a very good idea. It would cut down on the newcomers posting bad threads and getting done for it.

Hopefully, people won't use the section to post controversial stuff for the hell of it. They should have to have good reason to post in the first place and have a defined direction they want conversation to go. That section probably shouldn't get super extensive just for that reason, but get some good thought-provoking conversation going. Threads that don't have an obvious direction in the OP and seem to just be controversial posts for the hell of it can be locked.
Still. The operative word there is "hopefully."
I applaud you if you still have that much faith in humanity, but even here I have to doubt the ability of some people to remain in control of their emotions.

In all honesty it won't do much, but it would be nice to quarantine threads where rape is at all involved (look at the recent one with the 9-year old, you'll see why).

Why's everyone afraid of a little conflict?

You need it or your ideas and opinion will grow stagnant. You need to be ever changing in your perceptions or the world will leave you behind, and sometimes that means being beaten in an argument. Stubborn ideas are how [i/]old people[/i] are born, and stubborn is how they leave the world - complaining about how perfect everything was when they were children and now the world is so deranged.

Anyhow, I'm against a separate forum.

Of all the internet communities I've seen- the Escapist is definitely the most respectful and well mannered.
Of the large percent, yes. Most are well mannered and respectful.

But when people flame on here, they really do go for it. They're the worst I've seen.

Sure, why not? And put out a sign saying "Here ye be dragons." It'll give those who want their crazy debates a place to have them and out of the hair of those who don't. Fair enough.
