I believe this dilemma was in "The Dark Knight"

Destroy the button if you can without triggering the device, or don't touch the button at all. Wait.

You guys are terrible people....
nope, we are human beings, and we want to survive, and we follow our instincts.
And people's instincts usually tell them to do terrible things.

See: rape.

First thing I would do is find a way to break the speaker hooked up to the microphone. Then, I start pressing the button constantly. Tape it down, even. I want big boom!

Ethical disregard seems common on these forums.
Why should we give a rat's ass about people we don't know?
Because the same could happen to you. Just because you don't know them doesn't mean they have just as much of a right to live as you. There is a false choice here. You could just not press any of the buttons.

Knock on the windows until they answer me, and I would talk by knocking two times for Yes and one time for No...and see what happens.

people's instincts tell them to safe their lifes.
My point is that following instinct does mean that a person is justified. You seem to be claiming that it is alright to save your life on the sole basis that it is your instinct to do so.

I have never once had the urge to rape someone.

Are my instincts broken?

Trace the signal back to the source of the voice, use the Force to choke the controller, rescue the people on the other side, find out who put me in this situation in the first place and place them in a similar situation, except instead of 10 random people, it is all of their friends, family, and/or everyone they care about.

You said imaginary game, right? This is my imaginary answer.
You know, if i were to make a list of the things that annoyed me most on these forums, people dodging questions when there´s no possibility of doing so would stand pretty high.

Capiche?
You know what really grinds my gears? People who take imaginary games seriously. Cat fish?
You know what´s a pain in my arse? People who don´t take SERIOUS questions, you know, seriously. Fatta´ru?
You know what pushes my buttons, friend? People who insist others must choose one or the other when it involves the taking or lives. Ne?

Would I kill 10 people in a horribly painful way, or relieve myself of my life in an absolutely painless way? Hmmm, I wonder...

Nah, I think I'm going with killing myself. I am/was slightly suicidal as it is, so if I can save some people and die a painless death in the process, that's pretty much the ideal scenario.

Perhaps rape is a bit strong; how about sexually assault? No straight guy goes through school without thinking how he'd like to touch some of what he sees, no?

There's no guarantee you'd be saving anyone. The voice could be lying and you'll all die regardless.

Wow the results of this poll are disgusting I cant even believe that such sick people like you exist... 10 people? for an act of selflishness wow soldiers go to war to save countries and you guys cant even consider the thought of doing something thats not selfish.
I guess by being an escapist your escaping concepts of morales and honour as well and become debased satanic worshipers that hold yourself above other people.
I guess this poll show what capilist society is about the age of individualism... its just mind boggling you would rather see 10 people BURNT TO DEATH IN WHITE PHOSPHOUROUS whilst you could die a painless death.
This is just WOW.
Shame Shame Shame.
don't use the god damn soldiers to back your argument up, they fight for their country and the millions of people in it, they at least have a chance of surviving, if they die, they die as heroes,

we're debased satanic worshipers that hold ourselves above others?

hey, fuck you,
i'll give a hobo some cash, i'll help an old lady across the street, i'll break up a bar fight, and back in school, when i was friends with a bunch of troublemakers, i would be the FIRST one to snitch on all of my friends if they planned on doing something bad,

but when it comes to my LIFE we're talking about, then nothing else matters, because nobody knows what happens when you die, and i'm not very eager to find out,

Yah, but never violently. Never.

So... broken, right?

I'd kill myself. OK I'll give you 3 reasons.
First, I'd probably surrender a couple years of my life for the painless death alone.
Second, I have moderate empathy so 10 people suffering would be too much for me. (However, if 10 had to share half my pain for something I'd most likely be ok with that.)
Third, since the person responsible is more likely to get away and do it all again if I don't that's a big incentive.

This is all coming from a non-religious, no belief in afterlife, atheist kind of guy who wants to live and would definitely go for life extension.

But of coarse in reality it could be very different. I can only come up with the best approximation possible. But since it's a painless death the fear factor probably wouldn't be enough to change my mind.

Then I'd still die a painless death with a clean conscience, which sounds like a pretty sweet deal in itself.

It really depends on the decency of the strangers. If they were guidos or white trash I would certainly value myself over the strangers.
