As a gamer, I have to say, I'm really looking forward to Brink. To me, the parkour of Assassin's Creed mixed with a first-person shooter AND character customization is a tantalizing treat I can't resist. However, there is one thing that just crossed my mind:

Everyone. I mean, EVERYONE, is going to want to be the Operative class. (For those of you not following the game, the Operative class does the most parkour and requires you to go behind enemy lines, as well as giving you the ability to disguise yourself as the enemy), sound familiar? Yes, it's basically the Spy from TF2.

Y'see, I wanted to play as an Operative at first, that's how this train of thought started, simply because it was the most suited to the established game mechanics. EVERYONE is going to be itching to try out the Parkour system, and from what I can see, the Operative would get the most use of that. As well as the fact it just seems like the coolest class.

So, what do you think, am I just misjudging the gaming community? Do you think I have a point here? And, if you plan on getting Brink, what class do you plan on playing first?

Possibly, but didn't they say there was a system for encouraging a balanced group? Like if your team needs medics and you switch to one, you get some credits or whatever they use? I thought I saw an interview or video that said that. So even if everyone played one class at the beginning, someone else would be benefiting by playing the necessary but under-used classes.

I tend to go for the tank or balanced fighter classes. Usually the warrior in fantasy games or like, I plan to go for Trooper first if I pick up SW:TOR. So for this game, I think I'd like the soldier most. Then again, I tend to favor the medic in TF2 so that could be fun as well.

The group of friends I game with, all have our own class. Typically I'm the medic, but sometimes I switch around. The parkour system is also not based on class, but body type. The lightest can do the most, but is heavily restricted in weapon choice. The medium build, self explanatory. And the heavy, with little to no ability to jump but can use multiple heavy weapons, miniguns etc. I think the operative though will tend to be played by lone wolf style gamers, since they operate by themselves. The other classes will probably stick together, which is what I prefer, being bogged down in some clusterfuck.
But, I think the idea of playing as a James Bond style character does sound quite appealing, so a large group may play as them. But there are downsides with the class, so hopefully the game's balanced.

I probably rambled on there, hope you can make sense of it.

Uno momento, lemme just go read the classes...

ALRIGHT I'M BACK. And personally, when I read the class listings, my first thought was, "Hey wait... The Operative IS the most badass." But then, I thought, "Hey, wait... The game hasn't come out yet."

I'm not trying to come across as a dick, so sorry if it makes me sound like a bad person, but counting your eggs before they hatch is never really a good idea. Sure, 80% will probably want to be the Operative just based on their description, but a description is all we have so far. Juss sayin'.

Now I'm gonna go ahead and go back to that Brink news site I was just on, 'cuz this game still looks SICK.

I'm planning on being whatever registers as a Tank, as I usually go as.

Climbing won't matter with a heavy machine gun tearing through you.
