(FOR THIS THREAD, PLEASE ASSUME THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THE MOTION CONTROLS. THIS IS JUST ABOUT THE GAMES. Sorry about the caps, but I wanted to make this clear.)

I was reading the recent news about motion controls and I thought of an interesting question. What if a new installment of your favorite game came out, be it Half-Life 2: Episode 3, Diablo III, Halo: Reach, Call Of Duty Black Ops, just to name a couple. Now, the game looks and plays exactly like you would expect for a game in the series, but with one key detail: the game can ONLY be played with motion controls. So, are you against motion controls enough to not buy it? Would you be glad that the developers are experimenting?

It's hard to say for me. I don't really support motion controls, but if this happened to Episode 3...

If a game developer dared change something I loved so drastically (part of the reason I hate Call of Duty 4) I would be so un-imaginably pissed off.

But then I realize how much I love BlazBlue...

it really depends...

if it was a shooter, and i was able to use the motion controller in such a way that i could attach it to a gun modification for the system, then i'd be fine with it probably, as long as the controls are decent.

but otherwise. hell no, i'd take that shit apart and reprogram it to use non motion controls

I can't commit to any of the choices, it all depends on the game. Motion controlled tetris would be cool, but say...motion controlled Gauntlet would make me feel silly, and i'd never play it. Possibly hate it.

It depends on what type on controls (in other words, wii-type or kinect-type) are used and if it's used well. I liked the Wii version of Zelda and Metroid, so I don't think motion control means bad game. But it has to be well made and the controls have to work, otherwise I'd just skip it.

As long as they did the controls in a manner that did work. One of my gripes with motion controls in games that aren't specifically meant for the control scheme it just doesn't work nearly as well as a traditional controller. On none shovelware motion control games it feels like they shoe horn in sections of the game just to utilize the motion controls without any thought towards how it affects the over all game. I hate current motion controls but once they actually start learning how do utilize it beyond a gimmick it may bring about some really cool things.

I plan on buying The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword even though it's motion controlled. Though I do email Nintendo every once in a while to request classic controls (and for them to put EarthBound and Chrono Trigger on Virtual Console)

Sadly, this will never happen.

As stated above, I was originally planning to buy Time Splitters 3 if it came out on the Wii. Doak would have made it incredible too.

EDIT: I am aware of the underlined contradiction. I stand by it.

I would not buy my favorite game if it had only motion controls. I've played games that use motion controls and I never actually feel like I'm playing a game.

We'll see what Sony and MS come up with, at the moment I can't stand motion controls for a single player experience.

well like i said, if it was decent, if they had like "gamer" the movie controls, thatd be pretty sweet, but idk id have to try it out myself, and i could always just sell it back, as id most likely know within the first day if i didn't like it.

I would be... reluctant. The Last Guardian, No More Heroes 3(?), Bioshock Infinite, and another motion controlled Metroid... I don't think I could take it for most of them. It could be that I feel some stigma attached to motion controls, but I think it's more that the games just don't need them. At all. Also, No More Heroes may use motion control, but it plays in such away that the motion controls barely matter at all.

Depends how they're implemented but it's a sequel to my favourite game, of course I'd give it a fair chance.

NO. I actually threatened Peter Molyneux with death via a broken game disk to the neck if he tried to put Kinect into Fable 3. As you can see, he listened.

Well, the next (and last) Zelda games are both motion control, so, yes. There is pretty much nothing that would stop me from buying a Zelda game, unless it suddenly became turn-based or if all the characters became anthropomorphic pigs.

I hate pigs.
