Instead of being an asshole, I didn't know this. Then again I've read one of her books and didn't really put two and two together (I'm sorry, but her book was dreadfully boring. . .)

Has anyone else noticed this. Andrew Ryan has the same initials as Ayn Rand (author of Atlas Shrugged). I was wondering if you guys thought this was intentional or significant?

Let's use the spoiler boxes on this thread.
Yes, yes. That is nice. Also, Andrew Ryan can be abbreviated to A. Ryan. They put a lot of "Easter eggs" like this whether intentionally or unintentionally (although there are too many for it to be unintentional) but they are insignificant.

Um...no and you have to much free time.
Why? Because he has played Bioshock and read a book?

OT, I've never noticed that, although never played the game.

Really?

Next you'll be telling me they got the name Atlas from somewhere else too.

Good observation... but this really is old man. But still we forget not everyone noticed that, and if you have figured that out from your own knowledge without hearing about this on forums or reviews, then good on you.

Oh jeez, I was thinking of this chap. [http://image.com.com/gamespot/images/2009/features/gameguides/punch-out/090.jpg]
Um. Anyways. Yeah, it is pretty old, but nonetheless, it was probably intended.

Oh god, it is like 9-11 conspiracies all over again. "BioShock" has 8 letters, in BioShock 2 you get 8 weapons and 8 plasmids, that's 2 things you get 8 of... wait... two things, and it's BioShock 2! o_O

This is pretty old. In actuality Andrew Ryan = We R Ayn Rand.

Seriously.

Not rudeness intended, but this is really, really old. The whole game was Objectivist Philosophy 101 (openly, at that). Objectivism is Ayn Rand's system.

Yeah.

Anyone who didn't realize this before and has beaten Bioshock, here's some more stuff to blow your mind:
[link=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fridge/VideoGames]This troper was initially turned off by Fontaine's Giant Space Flea From Nowhere final form. It wasn't until I thought about it some more that I realized that Fontaine's final form bore a striking resemblance to the statues that hold up Andrew Ryan's propaganda throughout Rapture. Then I realized that Fontaine, despite fighting Ryan all these years and having Jack kill Ryan through mind control, had simply become a pawn of Ryan much like Jack was a pawn of Fontaine's. By ridding himself of petty morality and using tactics outside of Russian or American ethics, Fontaine IS Ryan, he IS Rapture, humanity corrupted by power at its worst.

The statues are of a character from the Greek Mythology: the Titan who holds the heavens on his back. His name? Atlas.
