Poll: A problem occurs when I bought a second console.

Ok I had a PS3 when It came out. 2 years later and this christmas I bought a xbox 360. Here is the porblem. Achievements, I have played alot of cross platform games and I have played them on the ps3 and I never got achievements because of obvious reasons.

The question is should I rent the games again and try to get the achievements. Or should I just go on without them even though I deserve them. I was looking at their achievement lists and I could have earned atleast 4k worth of gamerscore.

1.)Battlefield: bad company (If I did everything over again exactly I would have all the achievements, but is anyone still online for this game?)
2.)Oblivion(I would have earned every achievement and could do it in about a days worth of gameplay)
3.)Fallout 3(These achievements are hard but I could get them)
4.)COD4(I know people are in multiplayer, I could get 75% of the achievements in a day and the rest I will have to work for)

I have gamefly so I can get rid of them immediatly after. I am as you noticed a achivement whore but dont talk about that I just want helpful comments.

No, I really don't think you should do it. Sure, achievements may be a nice little bonus to playing a multiplatform game on 360, and maybe you do "deserve" them because you've already played them, but why waste your time playing the games all over just to get some gamerscore? Unless gamerscore really means a lot to you, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't really know if anyone else really cares about your score, and the important thing is that you've played those games.

Instead, take the time you would have been playing those games again and spend it playing new games. Get the achievements in those new games if you like. But don't play through it again just for the "bleep bloop".

Achievements are useless and if your going to waste time and money on them just get kids games like Avatar, and TMNT.

Sorry just assumed. Anyway, what is the significance of gamerscore that you need these achievements anyway? I always thought it was some arbitrary number to show how much you cared about arbitrary bonus challenges.

It's not about the numbers, it's about the actual achievements themselves. A lot of people don't seem to understand that.

Sorry, but no matter how good you are at Oblivion you are fooling yourself if you think you could get all the achievements in a day. Even if you mean a whole 24 hours, I'd still say it would be a struggle.

My wife is considering renting Silent Hill: Homecoming on the 360 just to get the achievements, because we bought it on PS3 back when it was originally refused classification in Australia and we had to import it.

Achievements are a waste of time to me. Not sure why people bend over backwards for these, they do nothing but say you performed a feat of psychosis or solid mediocrity that anyone playing through the game and has half a functioning brain can do. I believe that achievements should be coupled with unlockables to help improve the gaming experience, can't be just COSMETIC unlockables.

Sorry, nope. You are not doing all of those in one day. And 24 hours of game play is a very long time.

I can do 24 hours of gameplay in about 2 days if I really wanted to prove a point.

If I expose every glitch, hint, cheat, lowest difficulty, Have a game guide when I have memory loss, fast travel every second, and with my past experience I am sure that If I play 24 hours straight(Not that I will because thats just stupid) I am sure that I can beat it. Even If I cant that just means I can have more time having fun.

24 hours isnt alot since I got exempt from midterms plus all the holidays I can plug in about 18 hours spread throught the day if I had absoultutly nothing to do.

EDIT: When you say all those, you mean Oblivions achivements and not all of them right? Because nobody can do all those games in 24 hours.

I say you should do it, but only if you're going to enjoy doing it. Achievements are there to make you play games in a way you might not have done before, and whether you like them or not, a small box popping up with a reward does add incentive and fun. Oblivion is fun to replay, Battlefirel: Bad Company still has a decent online community, COD4 is always good, and if Fallout 3 is as good as Oblivion, then I'd say it's worth doing.

I personally found them "a carrot on a stick", a personal blight when I had a game which didnt have 1000 gamerscore which was on my profile. However time and money soon took away that fact. Achievements are probably the only reason that Microsoft have the biggest "kept games" ratio (cant remember the exact term) by its consumers.

Personally achievements are nothing more than an e-penis for most people, bragging rights mean nothing, unless between friends, so as said before, Yes, do it if you enjoy the game, but dont waste time or money if you do not.

24 hours of play is a long time is what I mean. Considering that you can play through most action games in 6-10 hours.
