I recently noticed that one can borrow movies in DVD format at the local library in NY. So why not have a video game section?
Libraries, which allow people to borrow books instead of buying them, hasn't undercut the book publishing industry, nor has the DVD section undercut the film industry. Video games shouldn't be different, right? After all, once the games are sold by the retailer, publishers and developers don't get any more money once the game is sold again?
Now, I'm not saying that one should be able to borrow MW2 at the local library; what I have in mind is a library section where one can check out games of old (best defined as "least 2 generations behind the current generation), such as N64/PS1/Sega Genesis/etc. games, since the publishers/developers no longer make money.
So, Escapists: would you like to have a local video game library?
