I do not, I don't think the console needs them and I think better games are coming.
You'd be better suited asking this to non-console owners, since they're the ones who are more at issue. Asking people already locked into the system about this is like asking Fox News viewers if they think Fox News is fair and balanced. Then again, the intent of this thread appears to be self-reaffirmation. If so, well, umm....I'm glad? I don't know. Nothing wrong with self-affirmation.
But Nintendo trying to appeal predominantly to Nintendo fans results in angry shareholders and misses sales projections. You may not care about those things, but I'm sure Nintendo does.
Third-party titles aren't for the people who will buy a Wii U for Nintendo games specifically or for people who will buy the console for one or two games. They're for the "everybody else" Nintendo very obviously wants to court.
Best idea would've had four choices, two for those who own one, and two for those who don't. Gives a better idea overall of what people want for the system.
I said no, but that's because I play neither of those, and I never will. I will go more with just big named games that are multiplatform in general, which in that case is a bit of a mixed bag. To a certain degree, having the big named games on the console can attract people, because if they see COD/GTA/ES etc. people might be able to assume right off the bat that the console must be good if the games are on it. It's faulty logic at best, but it would probably at least convince some people, or at least elevate the system to an extent. On the other hand, will people buy that game for the system when they can get it on another console with better graphics, and how things have been going, have access to all DLC. I will most likely get a PS4 down the line, and if I really want to play AAA #54265643, I can get the game then, at a cheaper price and know for sure that the game is good if people still think fondly of it. From what I've gathered, it seems that a lot of people who have a WiiU will have another gaming platform, but those that have another gaming platform won't have a WiiU. Assuming that is true for most people, it seems pointless to bring a game to the WiiU that people are more likely to buy on anything but the WiiU.
I think it's better that some games be ported to the system if they deem it worth it (Rayman, and any games they feel the Pad might add to), but that companies try some smaller, more creative titles that take advantage of the game pad. I think overall, the system just needs A) more variety, and B) more games that are critically acclaimed that aren't 1st party titles, because it's clear that a lot more people don't care about the Mario/Zeldas, even though they are usually well received.
