Poll: A question for PS3 users...

Yup. Got the ol' first-gen 60GB model still. I've replaced the fan, thermal paste (poor thing used to heat up enough to make me concerned for its health, y'see) and hard drive (320GB), but it still plays PS2 games

I think mines pre 2009, not sure though. I got it with Killzone 2 so when ever that came out and mine is sorta running outta space too. I think its an 80gig aswell and its the old fat model but not the one that has PS2 compatabililty and only has 2 USB ports. Any time I get a new game I have to delete a demo or 2 to make space for installs if it needs one.

But I had about 20 or 25 demos up until recently, I have 19 at the moment and they are all mostly big open world games that take up a lot of space. There is only a few really small ones.

And a few HD videos. And lots of photos and music. I do need to get a external hard drive soon though, because the one we had has been bust for a while and it wasn't compatable with the PS3.

That would be a yes, then. It didn't ask if you only have one or the other, just if you have the old one at all.

My buddy's still got his launch model, and it's still going strong.

I didn't own a PS3 until 2010--got sick of having to use his all the time--so I guess that's a "no" for me.

Yep, that ugly black monolith is still kicking. I got a 60GB and I'm really hurting for memory now. Backwards compatibility still rocks.

I've still got the 80GB launch model, and it's never given me any trouble.

I do think I'll have to replace the hard drive soon, though. 80GB just isn't going to cut it for much longer.

I still have a 60GB launch model. Still going strong, though the fan has gotten quite noisy.

I suppose I can't expect it to last forever, but I'm hoping to get at least another year out of it.

Same here (although I've got a 40GB version), and the fan noise is starting to get on my nerves now. I've been debating whether or not to spend some cash on a quieter new one, or wait for the next gen.

Got a fat that was 80 Gig but not Backward Compatible. I almost immediately swapped out the hard drive for 500 Gig (still have that 80 around somewhere). Pre disaster price of $80.

It is still my primary bluray player and works great. My 1996 Xbox 360 however....

I still have the same phat Ps3 from launch. I put a 500gb hard drive in it because 40gb wasn't enough. Still works perfectly.

I still have one of the original PS3's. I had to get my first one replaced with another one though do to technical issues with it.

To this day it is still working fine. Plus I still have backwards compatibility with some of my older PS2 games.

pre 2009 the fat ones or something? thats around the time that i got mine (80 GB). Other than the power supply crapping out ( a 30 dollar fix) its been running fine.

Well they're pretty rare for one, but mostly it is because many people were unhappy with the removal of backwards compatibility that all pre-September 2009 models had. Many such as myself also think the design looked better before. To me and others the sleek and shiny design was better than the rugged texture and greyish colour that the new models had.

pretty sure mine isnt backwards compatible. I thought Sony stopped that in like 2007.

Actually i bought mine in 2008, Killzone 2 was bought on its release date (feb 2009) and i had my system for a few months by then.

yea, just checked, my model was released in oct 2008 and is not backwards compatible.

I have to admit i do. I aquired a 60GB PS3 when they were first released and not only did i dispose of my beloved PS2 but i continued purchasing PS2 games when I came across them blissfully unaware that backwards compatibility would not be a returning feature in later consoles. I would buy a new PS3 tomorrow if it wasnt for this as 60GB is painfully small and the new ones use less juice, but alas it is not destined to be.

I have had my 80GB fat model since 2008 - on of the ones that came out after backwards compatibility was removed and before slim models were announced. Still works well enough but hard drive space has dwindled and it doesn't seem quite as fast as it once did (probably because I downloaded a bunch of games via PS+).

I really wish there was a disk management application on there to see what exactly is taking up all the space since I feel like I've deleted a lot of my game downloads/installs for games I haven't played in awhile and moved any music/videos to an external hard drive and I'm still running low on space.
