Wow. I wasn't expecting that many people to vote Queen. I always thought no-one really gave a crap about her (inside the UK, anyway).
I voted neither, don't care about the royal family, don't care about football.

not a fan of either though if i had to pick one over the other i'd pick the queen, the royal family at least bring tourism to the country, as to football....well i prefer my sports not to be full of pre-madonnas, who don't understand what it means to put their body on the line for their team, i prefer the likes of rugby.

I don't really understand the question...

Sure, it's nice having ol'Queenie around but...I mean, they're two different ball parks, pardon the pun.

I'm Tottenham 'till I die, but meh, gotta love Lizzie.

I live in a ghetto in Louisiana, I'm pretty far removed from anyone from the U.K. so I use the internet.
Ah, you misconstrued my meaning. Don't get me wrong, It's great that you're interested in and care about other cultures, and wish to find out more about them. My qualm with what you asked was where you asked it. I'm probably the only gamer I know that is into sports in any way, so I don't think this was the right place to ask this particular question if you wanted a representative response.

Well I'm not from the UK so my opinion might not be relevant in any way, but regardless I hate Football. Both the American version and the proper Football, I think the sport is for people who can't take a real hit and thus don't want to play Rugby. (Though at least American Football forces you to be tackled which when done by a 250 pound man is not very pleasant)

I also I am really really meh towards the Queen, because from what I've seen she's more of a symbol then an actual power of authority. That and it seems like all the Royal Family is there to do is just attract tourists, leaving Parliament to do the rest with little to no intervening (I'm a little shaky on the inner workings of what kind of powers the Queen has over Parliament so correct me if I am wrong.)

Both can just go and piss off, give me rugby and anarchy any day. :p

Entirely correct, though if memory serves the Queen can prevent any laws being passed that she wants. It doesn't get used much.
Make of that what you will.

True, there seems to be an apathy for football clubs and monarchies on the Escapist, over 50% of the poll takers answered "neither".

Neither. Couldn't care less about one or the other to be fair. The Royals are just a bunch of toffs and football is for people not man enough to play rugby.
That sounds like a quote from my great granddad.
Who was clearly a man of both taste and distinction. :)

My local club is about to be facing some bad times thanks to our dickhole of an ex-manager buggering off and taking players with him. I try to support them as much as I can because the other local teams tend to be more supported, and I love where i'm from. Plus when you see Torquay United's LOVELY bright yellow kit, you'll all be jealous of what I get to wear on matchday.

Plus, I don't give a crap about any of the royals.
Torquay eh?

You made me sad indeed, beating us in the play-offs in such a manner :p
Haha, sorry about that! If it helps we'll be nowhere near the playoffs next season at all.

This is true, he was also incredibly Scottish.

Well I suppose that is a small consolation!

we've been in the playoffs a lot recently, it's getting a bit frustrating :p

Neither. The British Royal family have done nothing to earn my respect as a citizen and I am wholly disinterested with football. Unless it's the World Cup, for some odd reason I care then.

Now Formula 1, that's a mans sport.

As an Englishman, I'll pretend I didn't hear that...

Neither. I don't give two whits about football, and I also don't give two whits about the Queen or the royal family. I don't really care what they do for the econmy either, I think it's disgusting that they're both supplied with stupid amounts of money for doing nothing of consequence, really.

Good point. Geeks and sports don't tend to go together well. I know its a big silly stereotype but its mostly true. They are some exceptions to the rule (I'm one of them) but general us Geeks aren't the sporty types and thus aren't going to have any love for sports.

That and we can be a pretentious lot.

As for the question. Probably both about the same. Given that my local club is Barnsley F.C I think one of the biggest laughing stocks in football history... There's not much to care for however I do still have that glint of hope for it and it still gets me going when I see us actually doing well.

The queen (along with the rest of the royal family) are essentially powerless relics however they're also a tourist attraction and bring in a good amount of money...

So I find them both semi-important in there own ways.

The people who care about football the most are working class males with little education.
As an working class fellow who lives on a council estate and likes football...Erm... thanks?...

I just find it odd that (on the whole) on gaming forums people go out of their way to express hate of football (and other sports).
Yep, tends to annoy me too. Not just football though, just about any sport. If I made a thread about boxing or MMA I imagine it would get flooded with hate for it. In fact I did, either most just ignored it and the few that didn't were either fans or just people there to express hate.
Often bewilders me that after all these years after all our attempts us geeks make to separate our selves from some of our unfair stereotypes, we still actively fall into this one.
