Poll: A rant on Equality

I know that race and gender equality is a very touchy subject in any forum but I gotta vent a few things before my head explodes. This is mostly about the entertainment industry.

to start off here is a few questions.
1. When was the last time you saw a white male lead character?
probably 5 seconds ago if that.

2. When was the last time you saw a white female lead character in a non chick flick aka "romance"?
Not very often but we have salt and resident evil 4 coming out so its not too bad.

3. When was the last time you saw an Asian play lead not including martial arts movies?
starting to draw a blank aren't you.

4. How often do you see a black/asian/hispanic/other actor play a role not specifically calling for that race?
White is the standard to the point most non white actors don't bother showing up to auditions unless it has their ethnicity written on the role.

5. How many movies have you seen where the original person/character was Asian but was cast with a white actor? And I don't mean can be interpreted as Asian I mean in real life they were Asian or its about an Asian character who was explicitly written as Asian.
Probably dozens and more to come, don't believe me here is a list.

As long as it isn't extremely out of place (see: Prince of Persia) and as long as the actor is good, and the script is good, I like to just enjoy the movie. On the topic of Asians, I think one of the primary reasons is that (i am not trying to be racist) for many Asian American people, English is not their first language, which can effect acting greatly. Furthermore, white people are in the majority weather you like it or not so it only makes logical sense that they would be the standard filler

First of all Im talking about ASIAN AMERICAN ACTORS people like me born in the US several generations ago.
SECOND It basically says that asians aren't good enough to be heroes. Asians can't get a good job in hollywood unless its a role such as Hero Nakimera from HEROES where the character is from japan or something. A white guy can play any role as long as its not Martin Luther King or something but everyone else can't get a unless its written for them.

If you can spell "audience" without help from a spell checker, you are not Hollywood's audience.

That said, the reason there are few to no female leads is because no one can write strong female leads. They're either men with tits, overly idealized, or overly sexualized. Someone is going to be put off no matter what.

The lack of ethnic leads is due to the fact the average white person doesn't identify with people who aren't white. You also have to remember, the average white person is under the age of 18.

This isn't a racist or anti-equality conspiracy, its simply test-marketing fueled capitalism.

It's Hollywood. American movies. If it bugs you, watch some Asian movies. Not that hard. I could say the same about Germanic people. They're never featured unless the role specifically calls for it, and then they're usually made fun of or the bad guys. Of course, that's all right because... Wait, no it's not.

Show your son some Asian movies. Really, there are a lot of good ones. Don't complain that a nation with predominantly European ancestry features casts that have predominantly European ancestry. Otherwise, I'll complain how there wasn't a single white guy in Hard-Boiled.

Then some white kid got the lead and I was stuck as background character #3 with all the black and Hispanic kids. Sometimes they wouldn't even let me try for the part they would take one look at me and say NEXT!

I'm tired of being called a ***** Im tired of small dick jokes and Im tired of all the bullshit I have to deal with everyday that privileged white assholes never have to deal with.

I would love to have just one day where I can watch tv or the news or go out and not be treated like a goofy japanese tourist or as if I don't exist but instead as the American I've always been.

For one thing alot of Indians are racist against chinese/japanese and also visa versa. Another thing he is a hack, a one trick pony, a dumbass, I could forgive him for the casting if the writing and the movie was good but it was horrible just by those standards.
edit: just so you know INDIANS are not the Same as all other Asians Technically since India is geologically not connected to the Asian continent its not even considered part of asia.

Ok, there are these things in advertising called "demographics". Demographics are your target audience. When your target audience is white Americans, you want your main character to be white to main them more relatable(better chance of a good reviews). In Asia you will see the reverse(all the main characters are Asian). There is nothing evil about this no matter what angle you look at it. It is just smart business.

Another factor is heavy pressure to assimilate from within minority communities. Some Asian Americans would consider making a heavily Asian themed or casted movie to represent a failure to assimilate, something to be shamed.

It's largely the result of a years of psychological research and focus groups. I really wanted to make a "relatability" thread that dealt with this after so many people said they couldn't relate to a Gay Main Character in that thread.

Edit: This thread won't go anywhere. Any sort of thread that brings up minorities in this board almost always results in "OMG WHITE HETEROSEXUAL MALE PERSECUTION!"

If accusations of an -ism is the only social problem you were born into, you've got it pretty good. Congrats.
