i am sorry if this has double posted but i clicked post but it never posted! just wondering seeing as skyrims my first elder scrolls game but because the empire was founded by a dragonborn, does that make skyrims main character an heir to the empire? if thats the case i dont think ulfric will be too happy with it being a dark elf in my game!

For discusion sake, what race was your character, whos side did you join in the civil war, and why?

For me it was a dark elf and i joined the stormcloaks! why? i know it doesnt make much sense to the story but the role-playing part of me likes to think my character was mad about nearly getting killed for no reason, wanted to pay the stormcloacks back for saving him, beleived that he could change ulfrics opinion on dark elfs and other races and from what i understand dark elfs arnt fond of the empire either? so my dude believed a free skyrim was better! oh also the thalmor are assholes!

EDIT: the third answer is meant to be "didnt choose" it doesnt seem to want to work!

Sorry, Ulfric just doesn't seem like the best guy to give command of a country to.

The Empire, mostly because it seems like they would be better equipped to take on the Thalmor when the time came, and because the Thalmor seemed to be a bit more worried about an Imperial victory than a Stormcloak one. Also, Ulfric may give some pretty speeches, but he's really kind of, well, terrible. He's racist, he's a hypocrite (just look at what he did to the people of the Reach), and his blatant abuse of his Thu'um to murder the former High King even had General Tullius offended (and I'm pretty sure that asshole wouldn't know "honor" if it came up and bit him in the face). There are some admirable qualities to him, and he's certainly more immediately likable than Tullius, but he's just not good enough to trust with any kind of leadership.

Oddly enough, the fact that my character is a Khajiit and the usual Nord racism against Khajiits didn't factor much into the decision. My character's got a bit of a My Species Doth Protest Too Much [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch] thing going on with other Khajiit, and figures that the worst stereotypes of his race (namely, that they're usually thieves) are largely founded in reality, so he doesn't much care how other races treat other Khajiit. Racism against other races (like how the Dark Elves are treated in Windhelm) does bother him, though.
