It was a good show. I haven't watched it in years though. They tried to remake it fifteen, twenty years ago. It was horrible.

Stephen King wrote about it fairly in depth in his book "Danse Macabre". He talked about how and why the scare factor worked in the series, and it's impact on later horror and sci-fi shows, and how to used the different horror archetypes.

If you like The Twilight Zone, the you should also like The Outer Limits, both the old and the new versions. The Outer Limits concentrated a little bit more on the sci-fi side, and was great.
I personally find it strange because while I liked the old twilight zone and hated the new one I think the opposite of the outer limits. I didn't like the old one but love the new one.
Oh, I agree, the newer Outer Limits were. But I suggested the old ones 'cause he seems to have a thing for black and white.
I do have a thing for black and white, in fact I have Volume 1 and 2 of the old WW 2 show Combat! it's great and I do love the old and new Outer Limits

I assume by Season 5 you mean the new series (shudder), I preferred the B&W.

The Outer Limits,Twilight Zones (& their remakes), Alfred Hitchcock presents, Preversions of Science, etc are all great.

Modern takes on the serial Nightmares & Dreamscapes and the MAsters of Horror/Science Fiction are fantastic really hitting above the mark only to be let down by mature themes putting off audiences and poor scheduling.

Noooooo by Season 5 I mean the black and white series, Rod Serling and all

I think that may be the one (watching it on youtube right now) but I find it funny that you say it's the soldier who says it because in the starting menu of Season 5 it shows a clown saying it

Depends on the episode. Some are good, some are crap.
What ones do you like?
Jeez, I haven't watched it in such a long time. I have a hard time remembering many beyond the big ones, y'know, Nightmare at 20000 Feet, To Serve Man, Eye of the Beholder, etc. Beyond those and a few others I only really remember the christmas episode where a bum became Santa(which was okay) and the one where aliens arrive and cause the electricity to go out on a street(which I didn't like too much). I should probably go back and watch some more sometime, but I still have MST3K to get through at the moment.
You mean you didn't like "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street"??? That was like one of the most awe inspiring you know, because it's true, it's one of those very few episodes that doesn't need a twist ending (well I guess it was a bit of a twist) to be good, the moral of it was good enough
Eh, well, there were a few things that bothered me about it.
1)I saw the ending coming.
2)Even for the Twilight Zone, the suspension of disbelief was a bit to much. I'm not talking about the aliens, but
2a)It literally takes a guys HOURS to walk to the next street over and back.
2b)"Hmm, a fifteen year old is summarizing his comic books? Clearly this must pertain to our current scenario!"

I dunno, it just didn't have that much of an impact on me. Probably didn't help that I was reading Lord of the Flies at the time.

I'm a huge fan of the show. I've watched every episode at least 10 times each in my life, not counting the god-awful 90's ones (or where those in the early 2000's?). I always wanted to buy that Definitive Box Set, but I just can't bring myself to pay $300 for it.

Yes that is true, but what does Lord of The Flies have to do with it?

Well, the whole general message of LotF mans capability to harm one another once order is removed. This is also the general message of tMADoMS so it might not have had as big an effect on me than someone who was just watching it cold.

Yes I understand now, it's like how some Twilight Zone episodes are very similar, or how when you watch a season of Twilight Zone and click on one of the episodes it takes you to the scene selections for that episode and well, some of the pictures of the scenes in the scene selection basically tell you the end of the episode (if you're smart enough to guess what it is)

Maybe. I just said the soldier because an online epsiode guide quoted him with that line... but maybe both said it or maybe it was the clown.

I just watched the first part of it on Youtube (other 2 parts were taken down) and it is the solider, though since it IS the soldier why'd they put his voice to the clowns face in the Main Menu intro, seems a bit odd

Because the clown is creepier? Oddly enough, it's one of four original twilight zone episodes I have seen, and I found it quite good. I genuinlly didn't see the twist coming.
