Poll: A Video Game Addiction?

Simple question; perhaps not so simple answer. Another thread sparked my curiosity in this matter, so I took a look around and apparetnly this can become a real problem. C'mon everyone, admitting you have a problem is the fi... and so on.

Are you addicted to gaming? Or do you know someone who is/was? What is it like being that person or dealing with someone who is? Share your thoughts on this topic.

Um... No. People only play games because they are fun, so if games are addicting then does that mean everything fun is addicting.

Ive been addicted to games. I know when im properly addicted as i can only slepe for about 3/4 hours before i start dreaming of the game & then wake up.

I then go back to sleep, But the broken sleep is a pain.

I know this as im currently going through it with Star Trek Online. DAMNESS.

If you're spending 10-20 hours playing games at a time and feel like shit when you're not playing, then, yeah, you're an addict, but I've never known anyone like this.

I have never really been addicted. I don't play WoW, I have low ranks on Live, but i know people. My buddy played Halo 3 for 2 day's straight, and Roller coster Tycoon for a whole night.

well I have been addicted to one game or another. Like the first Mass Effect or the first KotOR but then I beat them and moved on. Just like a good book their difficult to put down

Depends on what you mean by addicted. Can I live without them? Yes. Do I choose to play them constantly because they are a good source of entertainment? Yes.
Am I addicted? I don't think so, but then again I'm no professional.

Your poll is just silly. None of the three options are mutually exclusive, someone could be being 100% honest and still tick yes to all three of them. So you won't get any meaningful data there.

As for gaming, no I'm not addicted. Days go by when I don't play at all, and it's not like I can't play games whenever I want - I just have other things I'd rather do most of the time.

As for dealing with someone who is addicted, well, I don't have to deal with them, because they're gaming, which gets them out of my hair. Might be different if I started a relationship with a WoW addict or something, but apart from that, doesn't affect me...

People only drink because it is fun.
People only have sex because it is fun.
People only shop because it is fun.

A year or two ago, I used to get really cranky if I went without playing anything for a few days. So, I guess that'd be a bit of an addiction but I'm like that anymore, so I've "recovered" so to speak.

I also know someone addicted to World of Warcraft. He keeps saying he'll quit but he never does. Ever. xD

I'm not addicted, and I don't think I ever have been. I just go back to them because they're fun - I do sometimes spend large amounts of time on a game, but that's only when I'm enjoying the game immensely (last time it happened was with Fallout 3). I recognize that I have other responsibilities that come before gaming, and I'm usually pretty good at prioritizing my time (usually..)

I used to play Wow all day. On my days off I would wake up early and play wow deep into the night. ALL FUCKING DAY. It was a blast though... I don't really regret it at all. I mean there are worse things in live than being addicted to a video game. At least I don't live in a third world country. I actually made a New Years Resolution to not play wow for the year of 2009. I never did. I actually haven't played at all since I quit in October of 2008, a month before the expansion.

a friend of mine was paying for WoW even though he didn't have access to internet. He can pay his WoW, but not his internet bill -_-

his priorities were definitely messed up.

we were almost going to do an intervention for him until he told us he stopped for good. apparently having a bank account of -$500 is enough of a motivator for one to stop playing WoW.
