I think a game wear you control zombies feasting on humans and other animals would make a good RTS. I mean we shoot them, we play as them in some games but those are all in shooting games. there may be some games besides shooters but I believe use controlling the zombie apocalypse would really be funny. Also if the zombies could do functions like humans like drive cars, trucks etc.

Considering Zombies are mindless, 'controlling' them doesn't seem to make sense. A writing a campaign mode would be like watching a Uwe Boll movie. Oh wait, House of Dead was eventually about some guy controlling Zombies.

Stop putting zombies in things, they're so overused as a generic game adversary.

Nowadays, zombies aren't mindless, Syphonz. They're usually Infected humans suffereing from some rabies-like virus (which actually, sounds quite realistic, and I think there are fears among some experts that similar things could happen in real life, although not on the level of a zombie game style apocalypse...). However, controlling them does make sense provided there is some scientific framework to base the control system in. As for an RTS, apparently the Flood are going to be a non-playable army in Halo Wars. Fine, again they are unplayable (and yes, Microsoft have assured us they're going to be following canon very strictly, given the humans don't know about the Flood until the original game...), but at least they are present. This could be a stepping stone, perhaps, to a true zombie (sorry, Infected) RTS in the near future.

maybe play the zombie master mod for HL2... but this DOES give me an idea for a game mix between "Starcraft" and "Evil Genius"

A 3rd person game in which you fight for you're survival has a zombie. That I would play. A zombie first person shooter where you shot crap. Not gonna play.

There's a Zombie mod for HL2 called Zombie Master, in which there's one player who is the Master and controls the zombies, and the rest are survivors, who have to kill the zombies and try to survive.

When I used to play, the Zombies were just generally lame, but now that Left 4 Dead is out, they probably have added those zombies in place of some of the others, which would help the experience. But yeah, this sort of sounds like what you're looking for.

Often times, threads won't come up when you search for them. This one actually does, so you have no excuse. Search before you make a new thread.

I love how fullmetal was suspended for saying "yes" in a thread.
More on topic, I would play a Zombie RTS.

A zombie RTS would be just like any other RTS, only with a different coat of paint. Plus, it would be really slow and unbalanced. Either the zombies are too weak and they can't devour the humans without being shotgunned, or they're fast and they can infect humans.

I'd like to a see a strategy game in which you control a group of survivors in a post-zombie apocalypse world. Collect resources, build bases, search for other survivors and just survive in general really.

No content post and also thread necromancy, I think.
But I don't know for sure, I'm not a mod, obviously.
Also, each game would take like fifty hours because zombies are goddamn slow. And if they're not they're really angry and uncontrollable.
But Warcraft III did have Undead...
What if it had zombies on speed, like from 28 days later? Well, "infected..."

Uh... Stubbs? Maybe I'm missing the point, I just always had fun playing that...and to what I saw, that's basically what you were describing.

If it were to be a zombie game where you had to control the wandering masses I would want it done in a way, and I hate to say this, like Left 4 Dead. As in, you don't directly control the hordes but you can attract them to certain areas, and perhaps certain special zombies, or depending on the plot-line of this zombie apocalypse, zombie-proofed human operatives. Also, wouldn't be too much fun, I don't think, fighting against so few opponents. Perhaps if it were all inside one area. Hmmm.

OK, here's my hypothetical game, with backstory

So say it's the near future. The Government is, naturally, dystopian. They have security cameras everywhere. For whatever reason, the Government/Government style evil corporation decide to enact Zombie apocalypse with their special virus. There are, though, survivors. In each level, you play as some sort of evil overlord sat in a control room. You view the map, indoor or outdoor, through various cameras (some controllable, so not to be too annoying). You have to toy with the survivors, try to guess their route, attract zombies to areas with smells, lights, etc, use of your operatives in the field (non combat). Kind of like a reverse Lemmings. Lay traps, send operatives scented to have zombies follow them to certain areas to hunt down hiding survivors, throw in smoke grenades etc to flush out various survivor groups. Hack doors to lock or open them, channel survivors to get them where you want. Send your operatives to try and smuggle weapons out of the way, or get zombies to ambush them at weapon points.

On second thoughts, maybe just have the usual RTS style camera. That other idea might be a little bollocks. To be honest, I'm not a game designer, and I doubt this game has enough substance to make it. What do you guys think?
