I learn 100 times better from conversations then speechs and textbooks.
Me too, unless I actually like a subject in a text book before hand I find it a lot easier to learn by listening. I'd rather watch a documentary than read a history book.

Both. I love discussing things and learning interactively but I have an intense dislike for creative projects and little tolerance for ambiguity.

I'm a history student, so really a bit of both. I learn a great deal by reading from the dusty old books, but active discussion with people who were alive during the events is also fantastically interesting. (Like my one prof who was a teenager in china at the outbreak of the civil war.)

I'm not sure I understand the distinction between academia and insight here. I take academia to mean the formalized pursuit of knowledge. At least at my (largely research driven) school, insight--here meaning "penetrating mental vision or discernment; faculty of seeing into inner character or underlying truth." (thanks dictionary.com) plays a major part in academia.

At least for me, my formal education has led me to some truly wonderful insights into the world around me. My education has actually made me a monster to debate. Everyone in the world should know to operationally define their terms, which is the number one thing we psych students have beat into us.

Im a more maths and science man myself. Just what suits me I dont like "verbal diariha" as it has been described by me in the past but I still like insight more.

Sure you need acadmia but is knowing that 8.314 kPa.L/mol.K is an important number more important than what it actually means? Just one breeds imbiciles I say, either they are "entitled" to their own stupid opinion or they have the knowledge but dont know what the fuck they are taking about.

If your doing law and don't think that there is room for insight you are doing the wrong course. Academia is not the anti-thesis of insight it is, or at least can be synonymous with it.
