So, escapists? Are you the laid-back careless type who uses their birthday for a password, or the extremely paranoid type who makes 26-letter strong passwords made up from 4 different languages, using random lower/upper case, numbers, symbols and country-specific letters (like me).

And either way, have you ever had problems with password/account security, had an account stolen somewhere, or have a story about your granny using "123" as her bank account password? Or maybe you have some tips for others on how to make a password unbreakable?

So, discuss security!

Edit: Ok, dont talk about your passwords. But share any funny stories you have about aged relatives/friends/coworkers and their incomprehensiveness/incompetence/cluelessness about the internet, or something.

I don't think this thread is a good idea for security reasons. You don't want people on here saying "hey my passwords are all really easy to guess".

I change my passwords frequently but rotate among 10-15 that I have memorized so that it can't readily be guessed, but that I never have problems learning a new one. Most of them are over 15 characters long and are random letters and numbers.

This is exactly what I was gonna do. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!

Anyway, I have a password of numbers and letters, so no one's gonna guess it any time soon.

I make up a word, flip a coin to decide whether each letter should be upper or lower case, and randomly insert numbers and punctuation. Not that I'm paranoid or anything.

I have a system for my passwords that nobody has figured out yet. I can't tell you what it is.

I just make sure the password is something that I will remember, but I've heard of people looking to pencil bar-code for inspiration on this matter.

K, added an edit to clarify that.

I'm told that a statement is the most effective way of writing a password.

It shows how stupid generic security systems can be when a password is "strong" just for having a capital letter and an exclamation mark in though.

I used to use a 5-letter word, then I added some numbers and a capital letter to make it available on more websites, then recently, I did something to it that I'm not going to tell you to create a seemingly random string and that's what I use now. Thus my password has evolved from a word that my friends could guess to a stable behemoth to guard my online security.

The best part is that I can just apply the clever method we don't talk about here to the current iteration to make an entirely new one.

I once went into a computer room to find that only one computer was on, and it was logged into an admin account. In boredom, I typed in 'password', and it worked. To make it worthwhile, I stole Age of Empires 2 from the explorer window that was open. :D

Password is swordfish. Or ********. No one will ever know. No seriously, always U/l-case and numbers for me and try to make it easy to remember (for me that is). Sometimes I use keycodes of games I own.

My password is complex infact I'll show you:

[sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]You fool It obviously wasn't here![/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
That's a lot of subs.

And as for my password, I've used the same one on almost every website I've been on since I was twelve... not terribly intelligent, I know.

I have a good memory so I just create something random and spend a bit of time memorizing and then using that.

I use words and numbers. Unfortunately, I have the same password and Username on many websites...

I use a combination of letters and numbers. It's always an obscure word that has no real meaning to me. It's just a random word in the English language. Sometimes with a couple numbers tacked on somewhere.

Mine is extremely difficult. The only person who would know it though, would be Tom. =P But I tell him all my passwords because I tend to forget them a lot. xD He's great with remembering them. Lol. Still have no idea how he does it!

I use numbers, letters, and sometimes symbols in a way that's almost impossible to guess (no words or sequences like 123abc) but not too hard to remember. I don't use upper case letters though, because every time I mix upper and lower case I forget my password.
