My solution to life's problems? Bring more dakka. Unless accuracy is absolutely neccesary, i prefer to just spray everything with boolets.

I perfected the M40 Acog in COD4. Albeit it was rigged as a one hit kill anywhere but the feet...

L4D2 stat from one of my games:
most saves: 23
most friendly fire: 25

I forget what the actual categories were called, but that's the gist. I always try to be accurate. I think it depends on how much time I have. If someone is running and I just came around a corner, then sometimes spraying will get what you want done a lot faster than crouching/bringing up the sights to get a good shot in the head.

and for the record, you can be very, very accurate with a full auto weapon.

I value accuracy as much as the next marksman; I just wish games wouldn't keep track of your accuracy. If you get the bastards down, who cares? Unless the game specifically scores by accuracy, then it shouldn't be an issue. Bonuses for accuracy? Awesome. But just giving me a hit percentage is like the game is saying I'm inadequate or something.

Depends on the weapon I'm holding.

If it's a machine gun or something like that, I'll spray and pray with some accuracy. If it's a a shotgun or rifle or something like that, I do my best to be accurate.

I'm British like Sean Connery, not American like Shane West, so I don't shoot all over the place and hope to hit something (cookie for reference). I aim then shoot. Maybe that's why I'm such a good sniper in games...

I use either a sniper or a shotgun - manual action in both cases. That means that I get one shot; if that shot hits, the enemy dies - guaranteed (unless it's Rainbow Six Vegas and the enemy is decked out in Heavy armor). If that shot misses, there's a big chance that I die, assuming my position is made.

Accuracy is everything.

In first person shooters, the player's accuracy is usually directly proportional to the amount of bullets the player is given.

Give the player 5 bullets to last the entire level, like in Condemned, And the player will want to make those shots count, only firing when they are assured that they will not miss.

Give the player a weapon with a small clip like a single shot weapon before reloading, but have an abundance of ammunition nearby, and the player will have decently high accuracy, but they are less worried about running out of ammunition so thier shots will be more careless.

Finally, If you give the player Unlimited number of bullets (Halo 3 chain gun turret, Resident evil 5, ect), and accuracy is usually throw straight out the hypothetical window, as the player only needs to "spray and pray" towards the general direction the enemies are with very few worries. Usually weapons that have unlimited ammunition are automatic (Machine guns), but can include other gun types. But regardless, unlimited ammunition destroys accuracy.

Any "generic American white trash" gangster movie..?

Oh, and yes. I am a struggling perfectionist as much as I am a grammar Nazi. If my pixellated gun doesn't have good aim to kill that annoying prick shooting me from a distance or in my face? AAAAAANGST.

In borderlands, I find that high accuracy + high recoil reduction + scope + Machine Gun = I win

It's half spray and pray, half shoot 'em in the face 30 meters away.

my favorite gun from call of duty (pre modern) was the lee enfeild.
I loved its accuracy and its large mag size (larger than the K98 anyway) Which ment you got some real nice shots.

In any game other than L4D2, I choose my shots carefully. I still tend to favour weapons with full-automatic capability, but I'd pick them for their large magazine size, relatively high accuracy, and decent damage-per-bullet. I do what you're supposed to do with an automatic weapon: Fire in short bursts. If you spray and pray, you're doing something wrong.

THe mian multiplayer game I play is Counter Strike and accuracy is vital to succes in that game.
In single player I tend to do the same as it its just so much more satisfying. Headshotting a splicer with the pistol in bioshock is so rewarding, seeing them sway for a second before finally going down was my favourite part of the combat.

Although I most commonly use assault rifles and SMGs I do prefer to be accurate. In CoD4 I love the G36C just for it's accuracy.
